A friendly vegan freegan told me of a Waitrose not far away you could get in and out of pretty easily so earlier tonight dressed all in black wearing my beret, like a French ninja, I made my way up there, and besides jumping down off a wall into some darkness I judged to be much closer than it actually was and scraping my arm, all went well.
Here's what the bins had to offer...
2 x 500g pack of Chicken breast fillets.
400g Scottish smoked salmon.
Pack of German Brunswick ham.
Spanish chicken and roast potatoes in weird wooden containers.
Chicken, ham hock and leek pie.
Pack of duck spring rolls.
Chicken and vegetable risotto.
Wild rice and Haloumi salad.
Pack of four pears.
A load of chocolate mousses.
Now bear in mind I've only got a little backpack (no it's true) and I mostly only took meat to leave stuff for the vegans so that's a mere fraction of the delights that were on offer. I think such raids shall become my new Tuesday night 'thing'.
He also told me about some charity shop bins nearby you could get into but I gave them a miss. I mean we all have to have our standards.
