Another one of those 'even if I don't listen to lots of this stuff there is still some I really love'. The use in 'The Children of Men' is excellent, too.

One of the world's great creepy/stalky/I am completely going to pieces songs, with wonderful two note off key Nick Lowe guitar solo.

I always knew this was a cover but could never find the original - I didn't realise the original had such a fucking ridiculous name.

Unluckiest and worst managed band ever (apart from the ones who died in accidents and stuff). They released a string of perfect singles, then lost momentum giving one away an exclusive download, then released a mini album with worse versions of the singles, then disappeared for a bit, then released a full album with absolutely no publicity at all, then split up. Somewhere in there the cool kids all got excited about an American indie supergroup/combo thing called Battles, too.

My mangled brain imagines that this is some form of communication.

God help us all if we end up talking in electro psychedelic indie.

I took this video over to my friend Andrew's house and his mother told him I was never welcome again.

Seems she didn't like it.

Her husband was a policeman permanantly on the sick after injuring his back beating up teenagers in the back of a police car.

Those teenagers were our friends.

He damaged the eyelid of a girl called Jane and it never opened properly afterward.

Then he retired early in his mid fifties with a substanstial pay off and pension and told everyone I was gay.

What a cunt.

Shouty shouty

Although I really like Nick Cave when he starts stretching words out to keep rhythms going

I don't know about the other one but Rose McDowall went on to star in various neo-folk bands.

From Current 93.

To other wonderful wicker man nonsense.

No I mean should we listen to people who were really fucked up?

Gain enjoyment from other's reaction to distress?

I'm probably going to say yes.

Because all my music requires it.

Though it has to be said she was having a psychotic breakdown at the time.

Should we laud music produced by people who are manifestly unwell?

Went to see Kristin Hersh on Thursday.

My friend Steve was the photographer and he insists I mention his name when I use his stuff, which seems only fair.

Not Woolworths as they seem to have ceased to exist.

Have you ever sat in a really quite place and asked if anyone cares?

Leeds bus station this afternoon was full of goths.

After a chat it turned out this lot played last night.

They've always been godawful.

Once goth meant horror and the different aesthetics of poets. Now it's trendy boots and bags and goth wigs in Woolworths.

Yay Felt!

The ever present support band of the late 1980's.

I must have seen Felt about 5 or 6 times, you couldn't get away from them for a while.

Last time I saw them they were supporting the Darling Buds.

I would quite like to live in this bookshop. (They paid royalties to The Shadows, obviously. "That's were you'll fine meeeee...")

Strangely lovely song. Yes, yes, I know what it's called, and the idea is kind of utterly ridiculous, but still strangely lovely.

My friends say 'don't look back' but I don't mind / 'cause it's a fact that everyone walks blinded by a light / that someone left behind.

Probably my favourite 'happy place' song (although I know a live version of it rather than this one, which I can't find to share on here)
