Solved.

I've caught them flying out during the day then presumably lying low outside wearing some kind of moth disguise until the moon makes its presence known.

I've been leaving my window open at night in this damn heat and as a result I've had a veritable menagerie of insects buzzing and whirring above my head.

Now my question is why can I find the daddy longlegs the next day but never the moths?

Initially I thought they were flying back out of the window after I turned the light out so closed the window one night with them inside and they disappeared regardless. I've studied the floor for their carcasses and found nothing.

Perhaps I have ghost moths.
