Generally it is accepted that it is not reasonable to expect a child who is a British citizen to leave the UK and deporting the child's father would infringe both his and the child's right to family life. It used to be generally accepted. It's not any more. It really still is sufficient in some cas...

Re: Friday 12th December 2014

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-30439592 "Man to be deported because wife's salary too low" I think I mentioned that I worked for a short period last year in the Home Office in family migration. It is now over a year since I left and my recollection is a little hazy. However...

Re: Friday 21st November 2014

Whilst I understand some people being angry with Emily Thornberry, my own view is that she is, at worst, naive. You could have tried to have a kind of nuanced argument with the MSM who were screeching and sharpening their pencils. I don't know Emily Thornberry and so I can't say for definite what s...

Re: Friday 21st November 2014

Morning everyone - I did say I wouldn't be a regular poster and here I am more than a week later. I have lurked here over the last week, and to be honest, it has been so depressing (not you good people I hasten to add but the media driven non stories that have been wall to wall). It's interesting th...

Re: One More Question

1962 was a very good year. Especially March. My English hubby was born on St David's day in Canada where his father had taken the family for his work. 10 days later in the glorious Land of My Fathers, I was born.

Re: How did you choose your username?

My user name is a combination of an old family name and the place I was born. Not very original perhaps, but I was devoid of inspiration. Before I go, just a little background. I am from North Wales originally and mum and my siblings still live in Wales. We have lived in Sheffield for coming up 20 y...

Re: Thursday 13th November 2014

Thank you to you all for being part of a forum which made me feel able once again to join an online community. I may not be a regular poster, I may continue to lurk but I promise to log in so that at least you know I am lurking. I will be going out in the next half hour to take the dog for his rampa...

Re: Thursday 13th November 2014

Hello. I'd like to introduce myself. I am a long time lurker here and former infrequent poster on CiF. I would be happy to provide more info on who I am and where I am coming from (both geographically and politically) if there is a private way of doing so. I was motivated today to sign up - and want...
