I think that you're deliberately missng his very valid point. It's usually true that selling up and moving into a tent, assuming that you can find a suitable site, is a marvel in terms of reducing your energy bills.

I'd say it was rather more than unfortunate. It was a catastrophically stupid error of judgement made with no foresight whatsoever and which had bad consequences for almost everyone.
