Great thread on hospitals.

Good news - the vaccines seem to work. Hospitals not overwhelmed with Covid.

Bad news - they are overwhelmed with backlogs of other conditions, so still vulnerable to even small Covid increases

@AK yes I too was pleased for Brentford. Third two seasons in a row and seem like a genuinely nice bunch running the club. I loved the shots of the old guys in the stands who had seen them when they were last in the top flight in 1947 :-)

Seen a bit on Jo Cox’s sister today. She’s definitely not diehard Labour and has only just joined. However, the consensus seems to be that she does a lot of good work in the community and is an all round good egg.

So in the end, I think she would be a good MP for Batley and Spen and I wish her well.

Labour needs to heal its divisions or split. Of course I voted Labour, but with a very heavy heart.

(Though I think Tracy Brabin will be a good mayor if elected)

I really do get what Wren-Lewis is saying, but I do also feel there is a more principled stand Starmer (of all people) could take here that would not immediately alienate voters in “the centre”.
