Re: Thursday 5th.March 2015.

AngryAsWell Read that quote again. it just does not say that Miliband will debate with the other leaders if Cameron is not there. The reason Campbell was put up on radio4 today, instead of an official spokesperson, was so that that question did not have to be answered. This is a claim that will prov...

Re: Thursday 5th.March 2015.

The 'tactical reason' Cameron has for not debating is not 'being on an equal footing' with Miliband, it is that he doesn't think he will do well. No doubt I'll be denounced as a Tory (again) for saying this but I don't think that is true. Cameron's reasons are twofold First, the same reason Prime M...

Re: Thursday 5th.March 2015.

He will, as he has said all along, attend the debates in whatever format the broadcasters decide. An interesting claim. We will of course see who is right, possibly by the end of today. It would be foolish for Miliband to appear in any debate with other leaders where Cameron is not present. I would...

Re: Thursday 5th.March 2015.

Miliband has said he will participate in the debates with whoever, whenever, wherever - I expect him to hold good to that and participate in the 7 way debate if that goes ahead. I don't think so. What the Labour spokesman just said was that Miliband would turn up for the Sky/Channel 4 head to head ...

Re: Thursday 5th.March 2015.

1. So, when Cameron is now empty chaired (as he will be) will Miliband debate with the other party leaders? I don't think he will. He won't want to be put on the same level as Farage, for the same reason Cameron doesn't want to be put on the same footing as Miliband. So, my guess is that (if anythin...

Re: Tuesday 3rd March 2015

4 years is obviously better. It is only 5 because the coalition calculated that they needed 5 in order to distance the election from the cuts made in the early years of the Parliament. It is sad that Labour makes no mention of repeal or amendment. The devolution stuff is very thin. If (as I expect) ...

Re: Tuesday 3rd March 2015

Labour's constitutional proposals http://b.3cdn.net/labouruk/3045a507f6e7c957b9_wam6i6611.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Pretty thin, in my view, more notable for what is not there than for what is. So, no repeal of the Fixed Terms Parliament Act. No single constitution...

Re: Saturday 28th Feb & Sunday 1st March 2015

I haven't come across the suggestion before that the main contributor to Ed's win over David was tuition fees. What's the thinking behind this? I don't think it was the main contributor. That was the Iraq War. Miliband was the only serious candidate who could claim that he opposed it. My view of th...

Re: Saturday 28th Feb & Sunday 1st March 2015

Ok, there are lots of reasons to hope for a majority Labour administration, but we have just been given a good reason to hope that Labour falls short: tuition fees. The cut in fees is a very expensive way of giving the wealthy more. The opportunity cost is enormous. http://www.newstatesman.com/polit...

I am sure my frequent presence would not be welcome, and I don't intend to post here as I am sure it would attract a hostile reaction. I don't want to disrupt the Collegiate atmosphere you have. But As some may know, I am banned over at the Guardian (for reasons I do not understand) and do sometimes...
