Re: Thursday 28th August 2014
Oh dear, someone over at the DT just pointed about... Very interesting Clacton UKIP branch has already selected a candidate by democratic vote Roger Lord. I know he hasn't resigned so How can Mr Carswell stand for the same party unelected What does that say about his view of localism I would imagin...

JohnnyT1234 is a little frustrated by the Graun's tolerance of Rustinpeace Johnny is doing great work there, expressing the frustration that (obviously) quite a few feel about that loathsome piece of pond scum & his alter ego. Rusty's constant trolling and twitchy reporting finger is shutting d...

Re: Wednesday 27th August 2014
The force of romanticism and starry eyed idealism, as well as healthy xenophobia about the English fuels some. Others see the erosion of the Scottish polity and surroundings due to a Westminster based government that they hardly voted for and in these cases, as well as in the name of self-determina...

Re: Wednesday 27th August 2014
The pro-independence group Women for Independence said it had been inundated with calls and emails from previously undecided women who felt that the advert was "insulting, old-fashioned and unrealistic". It's a sad indictment of the species if a stupid advert is the basis for some women t...

I’ve managed to log in - success! There’s some horrendous stuff being posted on the Rotherham abuse threads. Plus multiple complaints about being moderated (presumably for posting unsavoury crap). Old rusty over on politics live is almost a breath of fresh air in comparison. Assuming Shaun Wright s...

Thanks to PK on Cif for pointing out that the Nat who gave Gordon Brown a hard time is an ex-teacher who was struck off after losing his rag and assaulting some badly behaved pupils. Speaking of CiF, has anyone posted a link to the new site over there yet? I would but they don't like me down at Far...

Re: Wednesday 27th August 2014
Here's an interesting link that explains clearly the currency options and problems relating to Scottish independence. In fact, the whole site's full of interesting goodies, and is written by a Scottish business who I suspect is firmly in the 'no' camp. He does, though, at least explain why - in star...

Here's a Telegraph report on the interview Faisal Islam did with Salmond I mentioned last night, it's worse than I thought, I only caught the end of it. Man leaves me cold with his jocular personality hiding his bullying tactics. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scottish-independence/11058007...

Re: Wednesday 27th August 2014
Welcome back PV, very nice to see you again. As predicted, and predictably, I see Scottish business chiefs have come out against a 'yes' vote. From their viewpoint, it makes little sense, and I sympathise with their reasoning. I note that in both the Graun and the Torygraph, the response from 'yes'...

Re: Tuesday 26th August 2014
This is amazing as a story, sure the council could and should have done much better. But - the cases were raised with the police, regardless. That should have been enough. But the police did nothing, and in some cases worse than nothing. They seem to have treated the kids as somehow irrelevant tras...

Re: Tuesday 26th August 2014
I note that the police on occasions chose to arrest victims instead of abusers for public order offences. I'd doubt that good old common sense morality looked very kindly on these children and their families. The Mail wouldn't. No wonder it's trying to pin it all on PC liberals. Perhaps some of tho...

Re: Tuesday 26th August 2014
Trouble is, Salmond conflates using the pound with having a currency union. There has never been any doubt that Scotland could use the pound (or, as Alistair Darling said, the dollar, the yen, the rouble...) The SNP misdirection appears to have been successful, judging by the response of their acol...

Agreed -saying "You'll have to trust me that we can work something out" isn't good enough for something so fundamental to everyday lives. They should have either got an undertaking from the Bank of England or have a plan B which people know what it is. Indeed. I've yet to find out from th...

Faisal Islam tried to ask Salmond about the currency issue on Sky News earlier, only to be told to move on, by Salmond, no change there then. I love that "move on" line. Cameron used it when Ashcroft was revealed still to be a tax exile. Blair did it a lot too The whole currency thing - i...

Faisal Islam tried to ask Salmond about the currency issue on Sky News earlier, only to be told to move on, by Salmond, no change there then.
