Re: Your favourite 5 films.

The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp - a truly great British epic, whose still and silent heart is an 'enemy alien' explaining, as much to himself as to those questioning him, why he has chosen his adpopted home over his native land. Gregory's Girl - such sweetness and innocence and comic confusion a...

Re: Books & Writing

Agreed here.

I am a self-published writer with a dozen books under his belt, half a dozen of which have been taken by my local Library. The chance to compare notes would be briliant.

There's only two things for it: either the Tories lose the election next year or we are all going to have to get out of this country. You don't imagine the freedom to run a site like this will last all that long, do you? Now that's an avatar I've got to ask about .... ? Yours? Once upon a time my y...

Re: Friday 3rd October

I'm pleased that we've got new posters here - rather than the spambots we've been getting - but I get a horrible feeling that the political antennae of the newest posters isn't quite as sharply developed as some of the more established contributors. I think it is difficult for some of us Newbies: F...

Get over yourself.Scots have one vote per person, same as English,Welsh,N Irish. All living in the Uk.Do you think that Scotland should be equal to the combined population of the other three countries? Why should a Scottish vote be worth anymore than my vote? Re: Thursday 11th September 2014.

A defeat for Salmond is but a setback to him. I've seen it said that the no camp can win as many times as they like. The yes campaign only has to win once. A sobering thought . Why is it 'a sobering thought'? A vote is to be held on whether a change should be made. If the electorate votes against, ...

Re: Thursday 11th September 2014.

Forgive me, but I thought Ernst's point was that independence can always be revisited in the future, but reunification can't. I don't doubt that if there is a genuine, popular call for independence in the future, the UK government would look at it. The trouble is, I'm not sure there was all that mu...

Heywood and Middleton are in north-east Manchester/fringe Rochdale. Pretty much a Labour shoo-in, like all the other Manchester seats have been since 1983.

Yep. Couldn't agree more. And even a computer dummy like me knows nothing is 100% safe. Couldn't agree less. You're basically saying that not only does a woman not have any privacy but that she shouldn't even imagine she should have any if she appears in a photograph less than fully clad. Talk abou...

I have to say I am genuinely shocked that (again) we have naked pictures of famous actresses on the internet. Shocked I tell you. I am therefore extremely grateful that an event that would otherwise have gone unnoticed has been brought to our attention (repeatedly) by the Guardian, Indy and Telegra...
