Most unusual lately for a Friday Populus to be so favourable to Labour so enjoy but bear in mind that it might well be a sampling error.
Labour lead went up on Friday a few weeks ago as well.

Some of the seats high on that Labour "target" list are simply loopy - Knowsley, for instance, has no UKIP presence to speak of whatsoever.

I think that only made a point or so's difference - they have tended to produce higher Tory figures than many other pollsters for a while now.

Quite a few Labour people have said they want PPC's scrapped now. I don't think there is much doubt it will happen if Labour are elected next year.

Carswell has already been selected as UKIP candidate for the byelection, according to the party's NEC. That's a reason why Lord is so naffed off :)

The recently leaked UKIP "target list" (which they haven't exactly strenuously denied) had just one of its 12 seats Labour held - Great Grimsby.

Constituencies in S Yorkshire, in particular, were notable by their absence. That may have changed with recent events (or perhaps not)

SY deputy PCC Tracey Cheetham has resigned in the face of the Rotherham child abuse report. She is from Barnsley (so not implicated in this mess) a good sort and a Labour loyalist. I think she will be as disgusted at Wright's behaviour (not least jettisoning the party to save his own skin) as many.

Rotherham is an interesting constrast to Doncaster, actually. There, a previously complacent and at times corrupt Labour "fiefdom" *has* been reformed.

To answer the question just asked - "no" have been ahead throughout, though by varying margins.

The "quickie" survey last night gave a big Salmond "win" in the debate - but also claimed it had made no difference to referendum VI.
