IWP - In Work Progression.

This is a link to the document that DWP did not want us to see:
data.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/committeeevidence.svc/evidencedocument/work-and-pensions-committee/universal-credit-in-work-progression

The document says it is "...for internal use only and should not be shared with external partners or claimants"

We have known since 2012 that at some point Universal Credit claimants who work would be subject to jobsearch conditionality.
We have also known for some time that this conditionality would apply not just to part-time workers and be subject to sanction.

This document is "supporting information" for "coaches" - ie, the rationale for imposing conditions on working people by JCP clerks.

It is a very long read - full of newspeak/doublespeak as one would expect; it is also attempting to strike a positive note while it shows the real intent, which is to remove support for low-paid people by fair means or foul.

It refers to a "trial" - this is apparently a "controlled randomised trial" but those selected have no choice in participating and all the conditions imposed on them will be mandatory. It's a matter of (bad) luck whether you or someone else is chosen for it.

There has been no consultation; and no actual evidence provided on - a) why this will only apply to some people and not others, b) how the claimants will be selected, c) how people already working full time will be able to comply with the conditions, d) how the imposed conditions will affect their current employment; e) what impact the potential sanctions will have on people on low pay.

Worth a read if you are interested.....
