Maybe when we get to the end of the page, something could play 'The Last Post' at us?

and no, it's nothing to do with the fact that she's a woman - she's a lightweight. Can you seriously think of her as Lord Chancellor?

Edit - I don't think any non-lawyer ought to be Lord Chancellor. Grayling was appalling, Gove at least tried to repair some damage and had some decent idea bout prison education.

Huge amounts of grumbles here about the very high costs of ensuring wheelchair access , and some examples are ludicrous, but application of the law is charging ahead.

Despite austerity .

Interesting to have an international European comparison .

edit -- it would be interesting to have a properly financed and methodologically sound international comparison .

Do those laws/directives whatever originate in Europe ?

makes you wonder if Cameron had ditched it when he should have done and funded schools, NHS etc properly instead of the foolhardy reorganisations of both he might have won the referendum and still be in a job.

Just catching up on some of the John Kerry stuff and realised what it is that is the one truly good thing about Boris Johnson being made Foreign Secretary. And I mean the only good thing. It is now obvious to absolutely everyone, even his most ardent cheerleader (that is, Boris Johnson), that he should never, ever, ever be permitted to become Prime Minister.

Where the State/businesses sees it as expense,I see sensible cost saving investment.All.stems from the common but warped view of "problem, burden".My view has long been held, amplified by experience, far from not being able to afford to,it is cannot afford not to.

Oops, didn't realise it was by Led Zeppelin.
It reminded me of a song from Shrek 3
(sung by Snow White), which I thought sounded like it was by Bjork. Just checked & it is 'the immigrants"
Will now have to dig out LP & turntable from attic & re-educate myself.

Brexiter Sean O'Grady looks forward to:
- More flexible labour markets. Yes, that means gradually reducing the unit cost of labour.
- More immigration – including from the EU – but on a more rational, global basis
- Experimenting with ultra-low tax and light regulation zones
