In particular, he said Mr Cameron failed to adequately discuss "his startling and catastrophic decision to call a referendum on Britain's membership of the EU in cabinet".

In the Kingdom of the swivel-eyed loon, Nicky Morgan ... um, well, definitely isn't.

Maybe she's just been in shock the last few years, and has just snapped out of it?

Despite the Tory leadership's best efforts to portray unity, the party is in the early stages of a split which could spill over into all-out warfare in the coming months.
Evening folks,
The answer is obvious, and will show that English politics is fine. The Hard Brexit Tories will split off and merge with UKIP, to be replaced by the Progress crowd from Labour, if they'll take such right wingers, together with the Orange Bookers from the LibDems, leaving the wetter elements there to join the Greens and the Corbynistas, at least until the next split.
Job done.

The last paragraph includes a DfE quote that is almost identical to the vapid bollocks I pointed out yesterday.
We want all schools, including those in West Sussex, to have access to the resources they need so that every pupil regardless of background or ability can reach their full potential.

Good blog on Hammond's claim about Maths A levels. Truth is not quite as Hammond would like us to think...

Truthful Lies

https://cogitateit.wordpress.com/2016/1 ... hful-lies/
Firstly, the vast bulk of the heavy lifting in increasing this number is absolutely nothing to do with this government. Yes, a 7.6% increase is creditable, but when compared to the 66.3% increase over the ten year period all it could be said to show is that recent government policies have stifled the rate of increase.

I wouldn't have to tweet about it in such a foolish manner though, would I?

Theresa May says her repeal bill to incorporate all existing EU laws into UK law (Theresa May to trigger article 50 by end of March 2017, 2 October) will also “include powers to make changes to the laws originating from the EU, using secondary legislation”. This does not return power to our elected institutions, it gives virtually untrammelled power to ministers who can pass secondary legislation without any reference at all to parliament. Yet again this country demonstrates just how undemocratic it is and how desperately we need constitutional reform in order to allow the elected parliament to hold the government to account.

So Brexit means Parliament will vote on all those pesky EU laws and we will regain our sovereignty. There are two possible outcomes: either parliament will regard them all as sensible or necessary, in which case Brexit is a very expensive way of feeling smug about our sovereignty, or parliament will keep the laws that allow us to participate in European trade but water down the laws that protect workers’ rights, human rights and the environment, so that businesses and politicians are free of “unnecessary” regulations. In which case Brexit is a very expensive way of making the UK an unpleasant place to work and live in. Does it make you proud to be British?
