It wasn't a joke then. The fact that Donald Trump and Theresa May are holding a joint press conference is something of a surprise.
Earlier this week Number 10 sources were playing down the prospect of such an event happening.

I read recently that amendments that would cost money, such as holding a referendum, can only be added to a money bill and I'm assuming the article 50 bill won't be, so that's not likely anyway.
On a happier note, as I keep reminding myself, May can take us out, but she's not going to have time to finalise our new relationship before the next election. A campaign to stay in/rejoin the single market could be successful.

Bright Futures Educational Trust bought "marketing and other professional services" from company whose MD was one of the trust's school governors
A troubled academy trust whose financial woes threaten its future spent £78,000 with a communications consultancy in a single year, TES can reveal.
The Bright Futures Educational Trust (BFET), which is sponsored by Altringham Grammar School for Girls, owes the Education Funding Agency (EFA) more than £4.5 million.
Its financial accounts for 2015-16 said it was in talks with the funding body to defer payments, and warned that failure to agree a new action plan would “cast doubt on the ability to proceed on a going concern basis”.
However, despite these financial pressures, BFET bought “marketing and other professional services” worth £78,000 from the Manchester-based company MC2 in the same period.

Just 3 days in committee. In its entirety, the Bill says:
(1) The Prime Minister may notify, under Article 50(2) of the Treaty on European Union, the United Kingdom’s intention to withdraw from the EU.
(2) This section has effect despite any provision made by or under the European Communities Act 1972 or any other enactment.

I heard this bit, too, but I'd lost the will and the energy to type it all out.In the US, following Theresa May’s indication that the UK could start tearing down trade barriers between it and the US even before Britain leaves the EU, Donald Trump has said he will pursue bilateral trade deals that include clauses to allow a 30-day termination notice.
“Believe me, we’re going to have a lot of trade deals,” the US president told a gathering of Republican lawmakers. “If that particular country doesn’t treat us fairly, we send them a 30-day termination, notice of termination.” (Politics Live, Guardian)

I just think we're seeing IDS and Raab doing more than their share.
Re: Thursday 26h January 2017
I guess single market inclined Tories feel they can lean on May during the negotiations to try to get more of what they want. I wouldn't rule out a split eventually. They are all devoted to Brexit because so many Tories voted for it so their seats depend on May invoking article 50 but after that the divisions may become more apparent.RogerOThornhill wrote:The thing is, that no journalists seems to wanting to ask the question of them. Where is the future leader? It's not like nobody else has had an opportunity! This is why blaming Corbyn for everything upsets me so much. He's there quite simply because everyone else is so crap. No vision. No compelling critique. No policies.
