I doubt UK (but more the point England) can recover from the last year.Theresa May will urge EU countries to raise defence spending for Donald Trump
Donald Trump has complained that EU countries don’t spend enough on defence

Obv the whole thing is hideous, but wasn't he in fact helping her down some steps, probably because she was wearing some unsuitable shoes? He actually looks more human than usual.StephenDolan wrote:Oh. My. God.

While I'm chuckling and massively off topic and possibly repeating posts from earlier in the week, did anyone else watch the 'Allo 'Allo tribute the other night?
I was so prepared to be disappointed and find the show out-dated after all these years. But it seemed better than ever. Packed with laughs, the episode I watched featured Edith unwittingly making pigeon stew out of some carrier pigeons. Herr Flick arrives and ends up with a bit of pigeon with the message attached. Delighted at his find, he triumphantly says he will send the message off to Berlin to be decoded. At which point René reveals it only contains the chest and waist measurements for a fake uniform for the guy he is helping. And that was only one "scene". The moment when Flick reveals to Helga that her sexy underwear is all the rage among the military in Berlin...

Britain’s excruciating embrace of Donald Trump shows how little independence it has gained from Brexit
Leaving the European Union means the country has less, not more, control over its circumstances

We used to have a French subsidiary whose accountant's name was..René. So of course every time his name came up in conversation either me or my boss would do the old "Ohhhh René!!" a la Yvette much to the bemusement of younger members of staff.PaulfromYorkshire wrote:While I'm chuckling and massively off topic and possibly repeating posts from earlier in the week, did anyone else watch the 'Allo 'Allo tribute the other night?

If I'm not here, then I'll be in the library. Or the other library.

"Brexit bill: How people think their Labour MPs should vote"
This clip shows me that we are not an echo chamber here and that our disagreements are surprisingly representative.

If it isn't,I would be grateful if someone could adjust,or properly link.Thanks.

The original series was especially funny if you can remember the serious drama (Secret Army) on which it was based. The Renee character was Bernard Hepton(?) iirc.PaulfromYorkshire wrote:While I'm chuckling and massively off topic and possibly repeating posts from earlier in the week, did anyone else watch the 'Allo 'Allo tribute the other night?
