Not sure our collective nerves will be able to stand another slog it out independence referendum.
First thing to remember is that BFS is essentially an SNP front group with few, if any, prominent members. (It has been referred to in the past as 'corner shops for Scotland').
There's an analysis of the members (at the time of the indy ref) here:
http://chokkablog.blogspot.co.uk/search ... r+scotland

The director (pre-referendum) was one Michelle Thomson who subsequently became an SNP MP (but is now helping the police with their inquiries).

Much as the SNP (and Greens) appear on the surface to want another referendum, I'm doubtful whether the SNP hierarchy are enthusiastic - it would be an all-or-nothing gamble and nothing has changed with regard to currency, finance or EU membership since 2014. (Assuming Brexit happens, Scotland will be out, independent or not).

The Scottish Parliament needs Westminster approval to hold a meaningful referendum. I've seen it suggested that they could have an advisory one - but unless there was a big turnout, it would be pretty much irrelevant!

Tbh, I don't see May being sympathetic.

Hopefully not. Nor for Wilders getting into power.

Was making the point that these nationalists are pulling Europe apart, and Brexit's part of that. Not that the 52% are even a half Le Pen-Wilders types, but what they voted for is being used by them.

I don't why Sturgeon's not committing wholeheartedly to Soft Brexit and shelving independence till that's gone- and it's not yet certain it won't happen. She might sting rUK Labour and Tory Remainers into better opposition, for a start. Clegg said that there was a soft Brexit with immigration brakes on offer.

I think it looks too soon for a second vote, even if Brexit is a big change, hence the poor poll numbers for Indy. Couple of years of Article 50, more time till the final deal is done, then it looks different. She can say she's "reluctantly" had to revisit Indy.

Is she worried about indy-frothers in her party?

Doesn't look good.

Same thing happens in London, but they have some experience of negotiating decent sized payments from the developers in lieu. I'm generally OK with that.

Is she worried about indy-frothers in her party?
As I see it, she's not pushing for a UK soft Brexit because that's not in her interest. The SNP (and Sturgeon in particular) have only one policy - independence. She was widely reported as saying 'independence transcends everything'.
She's pushing for a separate EU deal for Scotland - impossible imo without a hard border with England. (May is, however, going to have to square that circle in Ireland).
A hard Brexit will add to the SNP perceived grievances with Westminster, which is in their interest. The SNP have a very similar problem to Labour - their vote was split between leave and remain.
They've lost their majority in Holyrood and are now dependent on the Greens to support any push for independence.
Polls seem to confirm that support for indy has changed little since the EU referendum. Failing to secure a majority in an indyre2 would surely see the end of Sturgeon, if not the SNP. Better, I would think, to throw some red meat to the faithful to keep them on side but hold back on actually trying to deliver indyref2 for the time being.

Sweden to Trump: What happened last night?
Sweden's Aftonbladet website helpfully summarised the day in news, which included:
◾A man setting himself on fire at a plaza in central Stockholm
◾Famous singer Owe Thornqvist suffering technical problems in rehearsals for the aforementioned Melfest
◾A man killed in workplace accident
◾Road closures in northern Sweden due to "harsh weather"
◾Police car chase through central Stockholm of a suspected drunk driver

Disagree with great step forward, more fucking smaller goose step.
Have just arrived here fresh from reading about a case in Leicester that had that kind of attitude at is heart. Horrific is not the word, didn't think before that such people existed. The story is out there, not hard to find, a young learning disabled man lured into a park last summer. July I believe. Personally I believe that it is not the people with learning disabilities that need not to reproduce, but the scum who torment and kill them.

The very very best thing I have read all day and for quite a while, from one of the graun stories about Trump's atrocity in Sweden...
One of Sweden’s official Twitter accounts, controlled by a different citizen each week, currently a school librarian, ...
Sorry, let's just run by that again.

* Sweden has 'official' "SWEDEN" twitter accounts.
* They give the accounts randomly to different 'ordinary' people so they can tweet as "SWEDEN"

As I said, it's a local thing rather than anything else - bunch of alt-lifestyle hippies, anti-vax, alternative medicine. Not quite the 'you can't replace a structure with a structure' of the 1980s green party but getting there. I'm aware this is not an accurate reflection of the party's national policy positions. I probably will vote for them anyway, to be honest, but I'm not going to get enthusiastic about it. I can't imagine getting very enthusiastic about anything that really matters.
