Rumours (very possibly false) going round that Starmer is going to be fined by Durham police, some on here may see that as cause for optimism?

Future king believed building and selling plush eco-properties would help pay off the £20m loan he took out to buy his beloved estate, Dumfries House, in Scotland

The problem was most people couldn’t afford them

31 of 770 homes were built, the rest permanently scrapped. 2/7
It fell to Lord Brownlow to bail it out.

The peer has helped several powerful people with cashflow problems: he paid £110k to decorate Boris Johnson’s No10 flat, he took 10% stake in David Cameron’s wife’s loss-making fashion company, and he gave £3m to Theresa May’s Tories 3/7
Yet funding Charles is his most expensive rescue operation to date.

At the time, Brownlow was a trustee of the Dumfries House estate.

He spent £1.7m on 11 unwanted properties in
a series of undisclosed transactions. He also sunk millions into Charles’s nearby mansion 4/7
Then, curiously, the Dumfries House trust, of which he was himself a trustee:

– awarded his property company an estimated £1.2m construction contract
– seconded staff to run his cafe
– paid rent to house staff at his properties 5/7
In 2013, Brownlow even held 50th birthday at Charles’s Dumfries House estate, with performances by acrobatic fire-dancers, celebrity magician, bagpipers dressed as Scottish guards

Charity won’t say how much Brownlow paid and, if he did, if it was at commercial or mates rates 6/7
Finally in 2018 Charles gave Brownlow an honour – Commander of the Victorian Order (CVO), approved by the Queen – at Clarence House.

Yet today the charity regulator in Scotland is formally investigating Charles’s charity’s dealings with Brownlow. Here’s what they say. ENDS 7/7
Whoops – statement here:

Also , probably a bit lucky as BA5 was not as bad as today ?
" Teachers, parents and everyday citizens have been building Corsi-Rosenthal boxes for schools, day care centers, senior living facilities and many other shared indoor spaces.

The movement has stretched across the globe and is gaining traction with public health officials in the U.S.

The California Department of Public Health recently listed the Corsi-Rosenthal box on their webpage about COVID-19 and Improving Indoor Air Quality in Schools.

Co-collaborators on the box, Jim Rosenthal, and Dr. Richard Corsi, encourage all to participate and to put their own artistic spin on the design.

Richard is the dean of Engineering at the University of California, Davis, and a longtime indoor air quality researcher.

“Designing the Corsi-Rosenthal box has been one of the most gratifying things that I have done in my career as an engineer,” he said. "I am thrilled to be part of something that is so accessible to people around the world, helping to protect children in school and families in their homes, all the while inspiring children about the power of STEM.” "

Looking more and more likely that a Tamworth byelection is on the cards - will either of both of Labour and Tories have new leaders by then?

Wasn't it great to see Starmer at Pride, proclaiming his support of LGBTQ+ rights...

...oh

Allowing Duffield (and others) to remain in the party, uncensured, is one of the reasons I left.
