I think the thing that irks me most is people's continued desire to be shafted by psychopaths. That some people ever supported Johnson was beyond me; that they continue to support him (voters I mean) is why we're ****ed specieswise.
Is there a self-help book on recognising and dispelling cognitive dissonance yet?

I also want to see journalists asking people what they mean when they do this vox pop business. So when someone says - he did a great job because "he got Brexit done" can they please ask them what they mean by a) Brexit and b) done.

Re: Friday 8th July 2022
I’ve never understood Kevin Maguire’s apparent friendship with Andrew Pierce and this piece by the latter only adds to my bemusement:
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-109929 ... unker.html
Particularly snide is the paragraph about Johnson’s meeting with Priti Patel: ‘Officials ordered a takeaway: Vegetarian curry with lentils, naan bread, samosas and poppadoms. (Meat, it had been reasoned, would be more difficult to digest – and the day’s events had been hard enough to swallow.) Unlike when Keir Starmer fancies an Indian, there was no alcohol.’ Given Johnson’s alleged liking of the odd tipple….

Most people don't support him now, believe me. Of course some still will do so, as is always the case.tinyclanger2 wrote: ↑Fri 08 Jul, 2022 7:29 am I think the thing that irks me most is people's continued desire to be shafted by psychopaths. What's the expression when you've scraped the bottom of the barrel and then you reach the stuff underneath?

Re: Friday 8th July 2022
There are two questions that occupy my thoughts.
1) Since we reached the carrying capacity of the planet already (currently on 1.75 earths required to support us) what's the plan vis a vis growth as a sensible model for anything?
2) How do you increase public spending by cutting tax?

Vox pops serve no useful purpose and should be abolished save for certain very specific occasions.tinyclanger2 wrote: ↑Fri 08 Jul, 2022 7:31 am I also want to see journalists asking people what they mean when they do this vox pop business. But that would mean broadcast "journalists" having to do more actual work.

I see a government minister resigned this afternoon, just in case we were starting to miss that sort of thing.

I like the way the Tories have already lost interest in replacing Boris during the interim period.
And I thought I had a short attention span.

That's partly because its quite tricky to do.
The only surefire way may be a vote of confidence, but that opens a can of worms of its own.
