On both sides of the Atlantic, a "war on woke" will make everything brllliant though.

Just a suggestion, not every anonymous "Starmer supporter" saying daft things to the hacks may actually be a genuine Starmer supporter.

Anything specific bringing on this observation, as opposed to more general vibes?

Cost of living crisis: four things the government could do to help
More sensible and radical than I expected, no chance of being adopted by Labour, never mind the govt.

If the Bank is so worried, it could cap the bonuses of the City firms it regulates. That would bring down average wages and halt the most egregious example of pay growth, with City firms that are immune to the energy crisis awarding themselves huge payouts.

Good morning.
The longer this contest goes on, the worse it gets for "I know what we can do!"...so that means students at university all the way through the summer, and the ability of university staff to actually have a holiday with their school-age kids disappears. Great idea...

If I'm not here, then I'll be in the library. Or the other library.

Well that same paper reports the opposition are actively putting together a "major" package, so let's see what they say.gilsey wrote: ↑Sun 07 Aug, 2022 10:12 am Cost of living crisis: four things the government could do to help

Having been involved with that Sakhalin Project as well, I fully agree. Now it will be impossible to maintain such a plant with no spare parts and no support. Interestingly, Chinese oil companies have also halted big signed projects in Russia.
What was not mentioned by Joe are the blocked Russian assets in western countries. Be sure that BP and Exxon have enough lawyers to go to court and try to get compensation out of those assets in various places. In the end, Putin will pay the bill "

Yup. It would have been nice if even in defeat we'd seen some sign of improvement but no. Same old shite. The defence still looks like a moderately talented five year old could walk through it, there's still absolutely no sign of any understanding between the defence and midfield and going forward they're still painfully slow and laboured in the build up.
Oh and McTominay should have been sent off.
Brighton, however, were excellent.

His being sent off would, quite seriously, have significantly improved the side overall. I'm sure he never used to be *this* crap?

Try being a Scotland supporter and having him in central defence where he's a constant liability and has cost us at least two goals I can think of. I've stuck up for the lad as you'd imagine but my patience is wearing thin. He's a Championship player at best.AnatolyKasparov wrote: ↑Sun 07 Aug, 2022 9:18 pm His being sent off would, quite seriously, have significantly improved the side overall. Re: Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th August 2022
Anyway I've got a bid on a wheelbarrow on Ebay.
A nice little black number with a 90 litre capacity.
My ninja plan is to turn up at Tesco with it at night (obviously dressed in black) and circumvent the queue of miserable, starving people because they won't see me coming. I'll be straight in with my wheelbarrow full of cash (obviously obscured and secured with a bin liner) and out again before any of them can shoot me with a crudely made crossbow.

As someone with savings hidden under the mattress away from the prying eyes of the DWP I must admit massive inflation isn't ideal.
