Not sure how Trump's going to wriggle out of this one (although he probably will)

And who'd have thought that an org run by a 20+ year old right wing PPE grad would be so triggered...by scones.

Apparently ^^^ this was a mistake - pressed the wrong button although if you blocked a Twitter account by mistake one wonders what you were intending to do.
In other news, dearie me, this is going to be a farce isn't it?

RIP Mikhail Gorbachov - we are seeing right now just how much things could have been different three decades ago.

Ngl, if you told me those two had tweeted that exchange I would have assumed the Cameron comment was by Merrick not Fearn.

Hello all,
Worst thing is the Cameron comment doesn't even make my blood boil. Literally no level of stupidity and/or disingenuousness has the capability to surprise these days.

Re: Wednesday 31st August 2022
I'm just back from a week staying down South with PorFavor. She was a splendid host as always. Amongst other things we got to sit on the 'beach' (sharp collection of stones) and point and laugh at a broken down aircraft carrier. The weather was lovely, the food was good (apart from some of my cooking), and I got a really good book about dinosaurs.

Sometimes you really do need to get away from it all and spend time with good people to clear your head of all the shit.
At least for a little while.

Re: Wednesday 31st August 2022
Sky'sGoneOut was, as ever, a pleasure to have around. I really enjoyed the week. Lots of out-and- abouting which does me good, and I had no quarrel with any of the catering which featured some delicious mashed potato.

Confirmation that the Government has decided to appoint a 22-23 year old with a PPE to act as a Trustee of one of our national museums. Policy Exchange background of course...
Government appoints anti-‘woke’ activist as V&A trustee

Her biography isn't yet up on the V&A website - presumably someone is attempting to flesh it out a bit...A rightwing commentator and activist who has a record of accusing arts and heritage organisations of “wokeness” has been appointed by the prime minister to a role at the Victoria and Albert Museum, in a move likely to inflame accusations that the government is waging a “culture war”.

Re: Wednesday 31st August 2022
Anyway back to relentlessly depressing news and the imminent appointment of a genuine moron as Prime Minister.
Tens of thousands of businesses are about to close down because they can't afford to pay nearly a hundred grand a year for their gas, millions of people are talking about not turning their heating on over the winter, and riding in to save us all is a simpering simpleton promoted and supported by the dregs of our soceity.
I presume they're only doing it because they think they can control her, which seems pretty likely, despite her previous flibbertigibbet tendencies.
On the way down and back up through England on the train I could see fields with failing crops. The fields weren't empty, just about half full at best. I've never seen anything like it. A patch of cabbages (or whatever crop) that thins out into one or two plants then nothing for the rest of the field. I'm presuming it's a lack of water. At least it means we need fewer foreigners to pick our crops.
So little miss brexit (convert) is going to have to deal with the fact that food is going to get more expensive because we're going to have to import more to make up for our half empty fields.
Which is a disgrace.

According to Sky TV's Press Preview, Liz Truss is considering abolishing motorway speed limits. Which is a) barking mad and b) even if it weren't, is hardly a priority.

Good mashed potato is made with a fork and unpeeled potatoes.
Thank you for not mentioning my roast potatoes which sucked. I've never yet managed to make good roast potatoes in an electric fan oven. I don't know why and am open to suggestions. At home I have a gas oven and it's never a problem.

I'll give you a roast potato in the fan oven crash course. Assuming that, along with all the other household appliances here, the oven hasn't decided to pack up. And if it's not too expesive to roast potatoes.

Try telling that to the lad on the train across from me today who had missed the train he was booked to be on.
He spent about half an hour arguing with the hilariously camp and dry witted ticket collecter.
It was pretty funny.
And cost him £63.00
