The Queue is causing much hilarity on twitter.
Among other things, they keep getting 'what3words' wrong so it starts in Slough, or Bradford.

I once queued overnight for tickets to see the Rolling Stones, it started snowing so they had to let us into the building.
Didn't actually go to the concert in the end.

This seems like a baffling decision from Starmer, although some Labour MPs are ignoring it - and not for the better

Of course it shouldn't be necessary, but because so much of our media is like it is - it is.

I just thought I'd share some good, positive news for a change and confirmation that it's well worth voting for a Labour mayor.

How much you will save on bus fares this winter as West Yorkshire Mayor announces maximum journey prices.

I see Man Utd are playing away against Sheriff Tiraspol tonight. That would be Sheriff Tiraspol who play in Transnistria the unrecognised breakaway region of Moldova with a Russian garrison. That would also be Sheriff Tiraspol who were formed by two ex-KGB oligarchs whose company, Sheriff, owns the club and just about everything else in Transnistria. Then there's all the stories about weapons and contraband smuggling paying for their nice shiny new stadium and training facilities but nobody really knows because they refuse to open up their finances to any scrutiny. Curiously UEFA seem rather unflustered about a team with almost entirely opaque finances playing in their competitions despite having financial rules that should prohibit it, but at least they've moved the game to Moldova tonight which will piss off the Russians and their seperatist goons.

They are playing tonight, but for some reason can't play Leeds at the weekend. Even if you accept the policing excuses for that and the "derby" between Brighton and Crystal Palace being postponed, couldn't United play last week's scrapped fixture against Palace instead?

Good question. Ticket problems? Too short notice for travelling fans maybe? Let's just hope Ten Hag has taken the opportunity to continue to knock them into shape in training because they reverted to garbage against Real Sociedad.

I had to check up on Stuart Maconie the other day. He's still going strong.

Yeah on 6 music. I haven't seen or heard from Mark Lamarr since he was on Shooting Stars with Reeves and Mortimer.

Turns out I've been using the 'Oxford comma' since I was taught it at school without ever realising such a thing existed. I shall continue to do so now that I know it pisses off a repugnant slug like Coffey.

Didn't Rees-Mogg insist upon two spaces after a full stop? As far as I was aware that was an anachronism from the days of typewriters but my brother does it and claims it was what he was taught to do at university. Though he did go in the mid-nineties when the transition was being made to word processors/computers.

I did some RSA courses about two decades ago and the double space thing was still encouraged then.

I occasionally earn a few extra crusts proof reading/editing papers before they go off for peer review/publication and it is something you still see, but very rarely. Which is just as well because these days that extra space at the beginning of each sentence needs to be deleted and doing that countless times in a 60 page document is a massive pain in the arse.

I'm emergency back up to provide cover for an agency if too many of their people are ill or on holiday, but I get paid the going rate and I have to say it's peanuts. Maybe it's because I'm so slow because I have to keep double checking everything but I've never yet proof read and edited a paper quickly enough to earn the minimum wage.

Although I suppose the same could be said of a bricklayer if they kept stopping every few minutes and checking they had the bricks the right way round so it took twice as long to build a wall.

I was taught to use the double space after a full stop. I quite like the look of it as it makes he text less dense and thus easier on the eye, but I don't bother with it any more. Neither, probably, does Jacob Rees Mogg.

The problem is when printed it looks weird and wrong. I mean just look at these gaps. It doesn't look right even here. Or anywhere else since about 1995. Unless you still sit at home with a typewriter. Bashing out cheap detective novels with an overflowing ashtray and a glass of bourbon.

Well Rees-Mogg wouldn't be happy here because it seems the forum software deletes extra spaces whether you like it or not.

If your docs are in word you can use (search and) replace to replace (two spaces typed in) with (one space typed in)

Did you know David Essex was born in a part of Essex that has since been gobbled up by London?

He fought for the Essex Triceratops Unit, riding into battle against the Londonites, firing from behind the armoured frill of his mount Sally.

Sadly it wasn't enough and the once proud warrior ended up in some shit sitcom about living on a riverboat while looking like a cool gypsy.

I seem to remember it was quite good.
