Am considering setting up my next new business: "Scumbag Painter's and Decorator's"
I think it's got leg's.

@sky
Power cuts aren't uncommon out here in the sticks, it wasn't off for long.
Much wetter and windier than we'd expected from the forecast, but no damage.gilsey wrote: ↑Tue Apr 11, 2023 11:21 pmReally? Here in Leeds it was a little bit windy about an hour ago but nothing out of the ordinary, I hope all is well.Good Lord. We're on the east coast and it's really wild here, had a power cut already.

Due to timing issues my comment on Labour came after the slave post (which I hadn't seen until now).

The main thing about Estonia's "Bridges" is that it's at the opposite end of the colour spectrum from Denmark. No pastels here I'm afraid, it's black and red (until it's black, white and red) all the way. The piano is black, the dress is black, the scarf is black and the rose petals are red.
One thing I can't help noting about this year's Eurofest is the unusual prevalence of swimming pools. We've seen 'em (or something that looks like 'em) in Cyprus, Czech Republic and now Estonia, our pianist, Alika, ending up in one for a while until she reappears to writhe around dressed in white. There may be story here, but my concentration span isn't what it was.
Interestingly, for all the things that do appear - pianos, swimming pools, rose petals and writhing - one thing that isn't featured, in any shape or form, is a bridge.
Clanger rating:
Was it fun: Musically (and at the end visually) we've got Kate Bush blended with Bright Eyes. Make of that what you will
Is it dancey: it's writhey
What would Terry have said about it? He would have been either polite or underwhelmed.

Seriously, the mere fact of the Tories being voted out of office *will* make some stuff better in itself - as was indeed the case in 1997.tinyclanger2 wrote: ↑Wed 12 Apr, 2023 1:23 pm OK - Am with you. Labour are becoming no better than Tories so what's the point.
Basically we should (as then) ignore about what 90% of what Labour politicians say before that, when they have to win previously Tory swing voters over.

It's all very demoralising - but it's a global thing. The world has become deranged.

But the thing is, people said that before the 1997 GE as well. And they were wrong, at least for a while.

Re: Wednesday 12th April 2023
But that's all they've promised so far - we'll deport asylum seekers quicker, we'll hit benefit 'cheats' harder, we'll bring more private provision into the NHS, we'll make utility companies freeze bills at their already ridiculous highs. Oh, and we might bash the trans people too, if you're lucky.
I've not actually seen a single positive suggestion from the main party.
