Morning refit

Two very different takes on that rescue mission --

https://www.tomorrowspapers.co.uk/wp-co ... ess-13.jpg

https://www.tomorrowspapers.co.uk/wp-co ... aph-25.jpg

So the SAS and 1200 "brave" others saved 30 and left up to a thousand in the lurch ?

I hope i'm wrong on that ...

No mention of Brits among those evacuated by the Spanish Air Force ?

Or, are all those people diplomats & families ?

The French evacuated 388 in (i think) two flights yesterday , but the reporting is a bit muddled !

https://www.lefigaro.fr/international/c ... s-20230423

More settled info from the G
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/ ... er-threats

Some exaggeration ?
Ben Wallace, the defence secretary, said the operation to remove British embassy staff from Sudan involved more than 1,200 personnel from the British army, Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force (RAF). The operation was carried out in conjunction with the French military.
The rest of the world has been busy evacuating people from Sudan , with apparently a couple of bods wounded doing it too, but many countries have helped hundreds of their own AND other people .

You would think 1200 troops could have done a bit more. That's probably the total number in the region.
UK govt giving the impression that they just couldn't be bothered.
Cleverly's FS? Probably shrugging his shoulders like Coffey does when questioned.
It's difficult, so we won't even try.

Good afternoon.

What on earth is this? Bizarre.

If I'm not here, then I'll be in the library. Or the other library.

I note that Tucker Carlson seems to have fallen on a sword that Fox positioned right in front of him...I'm assuming this is to do with that rather whopping payout last week.

First guess it's Kim Jon Sunak copying his mate, but too much to hope for :-)

Stella Creasy is going to be in trouble for going off message (or to put it another way, telling the truth).

She gave a strong speech pointing out what a disaster Brexit has been while saying the only way to repair the damage is to effectively rejoin the single market and customs union. It was a breath of fresh air hearing a Labour MP being honest.

And of course Labour will almost certainly start moving in that direction almost literally the day after they win any election.

I actually also think the leadership may be fine with the likes of Creasy acting as "outriders". Get the idea into people's heads whilst keeping plausible deniability.

It's weird how it became totally veroboten, after Starmer took the leadership - especially how he attacked Corbyn so much for not being pro-rejoin enough.

Actually its not just faith regarding this one, but also what I have been told by someone supposedly "in the know".

Can you realistically end it in a decade, though? I have no problem in setting targets per se.

But it makes it sound like Starmer & Labour are happy with half the DV continuing. It's (again) shocking messaging, that a toddler would pick up on.

Israel's black, red and white writheathon takes a musical form that makes me feel vaguely homicidal. Not only that, but Noa Kirel is singing earnestly about "the power of a unicorn".

Clanger rating:
Was it fun: it was bland beyond measure
Was it dancey: it was bland beyond measure
What would Terry have said about it: It was bland beyond measure

LET'S FACE IT I'M JUST 'KIN' SEETHIN'

Ash Sarkar doing a pretty good job , tho I think she might definitively have kicked back against Sangita Myska's 'assertion' that "Corbyn didn't do enough" on Labour's 'AS' .

Any fule who's had a look at the evidence will see that the LP Apparatchiks were in control there .
