VERY VERY naughty as it might push up the gas prices for the US election !

Thanks Sky as always for the QT Report .

Damn -- just saw a clip of TC droning on unpleasantly, monotonously, then lost it !

Dreadful .

Israel could have done a lot worse though. It is possible widespread calls for restraint from normally supportive governments did have some effect.

I don't think "they only fired a few missiles" is a valid line to take.

The whole Iran strike - Israel retaliation does have the feeling of politics as performance art, though. The launch of 300 "missiles" by Iran, with, apparently 72 hours notice, all (or nearly all) of which were brought down, then the Israeli drone attack which appears to have done little damage, according to Iran, who will not retaliate at the moment. Call me cynical (and you will) but I can't help but feel that something else is going on here.

Remember that this was started by Israel destroying Iran's consulate in Syria.

Depends where you are starting from, much the same *could* be argued about Iran's previous action.

They could certainly have tried harder to overwhelm Israel's defences if they had really wanted to.

(I presume this is in response to me Refit?)

Absolutely and, after all, Cameron said that had we been on the receiving end we would have given a very strong response. What Iran actually did is part of the reason that I think it was a case of (very expensive) play-acting. They could have used fewer missiles with no warning whatsoever and caused a reasonable, even considerable, amount of damage and deaths, but seem to have been happy with the token destruction they achieved. Israel's retaliation to it seemed pretty mild considering the extraordinarily aggressive way they normally go about their business.

Wait til I'm proved wrong over the next few days, although I hope that won't be the case.

And as luck would have it, the Tory candidate in the Blackpool South byelection just happens to also be....the chair of Fylde Conservatives.

Who is now denying that he knew any of the stuff revealed this week about his MP - how likely is that?
