Good morning.

Given their previous support for BoJo which resulted in the editor getting a nice plum job afterwards (a fact that seems to elude the dimwitted Charlotte Gill who seems to think it a new thing that mayors get to appoint their own people as Deputies...are all Gills bad news?), the Evening Standard came out on Khan's side.

If I'm not here, then I'll be in the library. Or the other library.

Great change from UK !
Also Mencer at least doesn't attempt to talk over the journo ... which appears to be positively allowed in UK ???

Actually he didn't pay, but positively assisted payment by Qatar

Yes, the Standard not backing Hall *is* surprising. And not what you would expect if they thought she had even a slight chance of actually winning.

A reminder (to our England/Wales readers anyway) that you have until 10PM to vote today, if you have not already done so :)

Did the deed myself after lunch, only the PCC up for election here so not exactly anticipating a bumper turnout.

No QT review tonight I'm afraid. There's no earlier live broadcast on the iPlayer due to the elections. I'll still give it a watch later and comment if anything interesting happens.

What a lovely day for taking part in the democratic process. After a splendid sunny walk to the polling station, I even made a start on the garden only to find that the wet cold April has massacred my foxgloves. They were fine at the end of March and now I have but one solitary survivor.

For the council I voted for the bloke I had a pint with on Sunday, which would be Mike from the Alliance for Green Socialism. For Mayor I voted for Tracy Brabin because I think she's doing decent job.

Topical --- if you're interested in People Power :-)

Radio Moscow will bla on about them trying to overthrow a "democratically elected government", as some UK and other Lefties believe was the case with Yanukovych in Ukraine, well ...

some people just don't accept being betrayed .

What an amazing policy:
Cyber-crime I will order a review into rising cyber-crime and commission a Digital Dog – to sniff out electronic devices, providing critical evidence to prosecute criminals who hide in the cybersphere.

For all those who think Fiona Bruce is biased against Labour it's as nothing compared to her obvious dripping contempt for the SNP.

Kate Forbes is barely being allowed to finish a sentence while one after another clueless English idiots are allowed to belabour her with simplistic, ill informed garbage. The right (and Labour) are adamant the Scots shouldn't have any say over English politics but they're more than happy to indulge in lecturing the Scots about their own politics, or even as we're seeing this evening, speaking for the Scots themselves.

[Edit]Kate Forbes? Kirsty Blackman you eedjit.[Edit].

God that was tedious. Remind me never to go to Northstow, which is apparently a posh new town North of Cambridge that doesn't have any shops. What it does have however is a well to do audience who were the most Tory friendly we've had in a long time. Bim Afolami was the first Tory MP not to be laughed at for months, in fact he even got applause for lecturing the Scots about leadership changes. WTF? There was even some stuck up la-di-da prick explaining that the biggest problem this country has is we're not working hard enough and everyone's retiring too early. He even singled out his teacher friends for doing it. Has he spent 40 years at the front of a classroom dealing with kids while doing colossal amounts of unpaid overtime? No he looked like he spent most of his days writing shit poetry while taking a break from checking his stock portfolio. Cunt. They were very quiet all night until the subject turned to them whingeing about their own town's predicament and then you couldn't shut them up, 'Oh there's no infrastructure here' they wailed after nobody forced them to buy expensive houses in one of the richest parts of the country. If it were up to me I'd take off and nuke Northstow from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

You know sometimes coming from the borders is a bit of a curse, when confronted by the smug arrogance of the English home counties as a
Heinz 57 mix of Scots and Northern English I end up getting pissed of on behalf of both. Which I'm sure isn't entirely healthy, but it is fun.
