1. "Recovering" is the word - but I only get annoyed when references to being pissed/stoned are pejorative - it's more than OK to say that the reckless Reckless was pissed when he was......although I'm not sure how one can tell. He is very very weird.
2. In the Welfare and Benefits section, will the old posts be coming back? There were some good links in there - mainly supplied by HindleA - some of my musings might be a bit out of date as things change so fast - but it would be nice to have some of it back.
3. Cameron's new homes for (yes, he said it, twice, on the news) "hard working young people who work hard" will not be subject to the usual building regs in terms of energy etc. and there will be no quotas of "social" homes.
4. I am loving the chaos in the Tory party. It makes me very very happy. More please.

Confusing, isn't it?
The first "activist" they mention is male; but the texts to meet up in the evening were apparently sent to a female.
Whatever - he resigned faster than sugar slides off a shovel, wants his familiy's privacy respected etc. etc.
And his statement mentioned.....LONG TERM ECONOMIC PLAN!!!!!! Unfucking believable.

Your job is to criticize Ed Miliband. Of course, this might be because he's doing a bad job. But it's also because you are well-paid and privately educated, and so naturally unsympathetic to most Labour leaders. You will, therefore, want to oppose him whatever he does.
In this regard, you can learn from your colleagues on the sports desk. After years of practice they have perfected the art of condemning Arsene Wenger regardless of facts or logic. Their tricks can be adapted to Ed Miliband, for example:

You won't be surprised to see the 7 are overwhelmingly Tory:Councils are empowered to use the Empty Homes Premium to charge home owners 50% extra council tax if they leave properties empty for two or more years.
Yet Freedom of Information requests to all 32 London boroughs discovered that seven councils did not apply the charge to a single property.
Merton changed hands (from NOC to Lab) this year.Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, Bromley, Havering, Hillingdon, Kingston-upon-Thames and Merton did not tax a single empty propert

I've been doing a bit of research into Help to Buy.
There's a very interesting document here
https://www.gov.uk/government/statistic ... -authority" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
that shows you where the 'Help to Buy' loans are going. I sorted the spreadsheet by number of loans and looked at the top postcode areas.
All the top developments are 2 bed and bigger houses. Did we really want the tax payer to help 105 "hard working families" buy houses like this next to Exeter Airport?

CON 31 (-)
LAB 36 (-1)
LD 6 (-1 and equal lowest ever)
UKIP 15 (+2)
Greens 6 (+1)
So that's a number of 5 and 6 point leads for Labour from the polls in the last 24 hours and one poll from Opinium for the Observer that has a surge of support for the Tories and Labour down to +2... Guess which poll is the third article on their website front page? When all the other post-Conference polls show no change you'd think it would make them think that perhaps their own poll was flawed in some way.

I reckon the Guardian should run a series of articles, penned by John Harris on how many Guardian readers feel left behind by the paper they supported for so many years?tinyclanger2 wrote:https://s.userzoom.com/p/MSBDMTBTMTY4/2 ... uz_welcome

There's a meme around that the Mirror's entrapment of Newmark is unjustified. Andrew's just queried it for example.
I'm not so sure. This guy is the founding Chair of Women2Win a group dedicated to getting more female Tory MPs elected. Is it really OK for him to be chatting up female activists on-line? Inviting them for tea at his offices etc.?

I'm wondering if he had a bit of form for this, that's what got the Mirror interested, it's not the kind of you initiate otherwise is it?PaulfromYorkshire wrote:There's a meme around that the Mirror's entrapment of Newmark is unjustified. Andrew's just queried it for example.

Are comments open on Sparrow's Tory Conference blog today, or is my laptop not loading them?

Morning.
Depressing report from the Independent.
'Late diagnosis of HIV blamed on Coalition's health reforms'
Jan Clarke, president of the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV, said the findings were "concerning and would have to be investigated". She observed that there used to be a "seamless service" from testing to treatment, but that health reforms had disrupted this.''

Farage just said he is going to give Labour a run for their money in Heyton & Middlewood. It helps if you know the name of the constituency!
