I have no idea, have they completely lost the plot.

I guess there is a serious analysis to be done to look at how the vote split, because if the vote held up in all areas Nuttall can be shown to be an idiot.

Perhaps there some sort of Asian voter quota rule we were unaware of?

They have to have done convincingly as 60% plays what 25% ? and the postal vote is only 25% of the total cast. The BBC will need to show very large differential turnout to justify their Kipper analysis.

Well worth waiting up for after such disappointment in the General Election (I wept in those early hours) It's so much more special in the face of the constant guff spewed out by the bulk of our media. I know that it's only one result but we seriously need some integrity returning to our politics and this feels like a little bit of it. We all needed this victory really and can I say we've deserved it with our constancy. Sorry if I've gone over the top somewhat but it feels good.

rebeccariots2 wrote:So it was news to me that their own party policy was against airstrikes. Who could have known?
UKIP policy is what the Manifesto says. Not the 2015 Manifesto, that's last election. The Manifesto for the 2020 election. Which doesn't exist but might one day. But when you read it you'll know what UKIP policy is right now. Or whatever Nigel says, or whatever the biggest bee in the individual kipper's bonnet happens to be.

And if a UKIP member, Parliamentary Party or MEP votes against party policy, or against each other and cancel their own votes out, that's great because it shows UKIP are democratic and allow members to use their brains and go with their conscience. Unless Corbyn gives the PLP a free vote on the same grounds when that's bad, very very bad. And undemocratic.

As I've mentioned before, I have kipper relatives. They're in their 60s and used to be Tories but thought they may "do better for themselves" in UKIP. What can I say? Meeting them can be like taking a trip through the looking glass and straight down the rabbit-hole. One fairly recent example being "you live that way, is it true there are signs up around Wolverhampton and Birmingham saying no whites allowed?"

"Erm.. No..."

"Ah, well (knowing look at Mrs TRG, a civil servant by trade). I suppose you have to say that...." :wall:

Well, yes - thank gods the sub-editor was paying attention. As for Helen Pidd, the actual author of the article, good grief. An extraordinary pile of frankly embarrassingly frothing ordure. I shall view even her bicycle reviews with a jaundiced eye from hence forth.

Heh, and I've just recalled a vague memory of her appointment as "North Of England Editor". Pretty sure her introductory article had an undertone of 'heading off into the wilderness, hope the natives are friendly'.
