Spain to deploy police to prevent Catalan independence vote
Government says local force will assume control of polling booths as additional officers are drafted in from Andalucía

Although the Catalonia regional government has insisted the unilateral poll will go ahead on Sunday, the Spanish government has vowed to stop the vote, which it says is a clear violation of the constitution. Spain’s constitutional court has suspended the legislation underpinning the referendum while it rules on its legality.

For RoT:
The Academy has hit upon an important point, which is that making people smile is hard. The old laborious method was to create a welcoming atmosphere and a prospect of possible fun, but it’s much quicker to yell: “SMILE, you bastard, or you’ll be dragged to the isolation room and made to memorise the Latin for plants.”

Saw something else about that school today.

Apparently the school was looking around for a sponsor. It found one it like and applied to the RSC who turned it down in favour of Inspiration trust.

So guess who has now announced that he is the new chair of governors of that school?

Yep, Tim Coulson, who as RSC decided who was to get the school...

Back in 1934 the workers Film and Photo League produced the short film called Bread. The film features the plight of starving working-class man who was jailed for stealing a loaf after having been denied means tested welfare. This experience is juxtaposed with that of a group of upper-class university students who had upended a market trader’s stall – thereby robbing him of his livelihood for the day – and whose actions are excused imprisonment on the basis of youthful student hi-jinks.

There have been a few minor skirmishes in the open at conference, including Corbyn-supporting members shouting at Corbyn critics from Labour First that they should go to the Tory conference in Manchester next week instead.
Because if you don't support Corbyn you're a Tory.
UK so obviously needs a different political system where reasonable party representation for more than two people at a time is actually possible.
