Definitely a good read and thought provoking.

From an emotional intelligence perspective, #CameronMustGo has been a social media confrontation with the UK establishment over its long-term abuse of the British public. The establishment’s arrogant and high-handed response points to a remarkable absence of self-awareness, regret or – dare I suggest it – repentance. This is the tolerant interpretation.

Editing to add: Suddenly realised I've not seen anyone referring to emotional intelligence for a long while - not in public / media anyway - and also suddenly realised I've missed that perspective hugely .... this is certainly a government that lacks emotional intelligence and, wow, does it show.

Hey, people, you know what? I didn't read the #CameronMustGo Telegraph article from 10 days ago until today. I can't believe it.

Seriously? Did the author respond to the comments below the line in anyway? I sorted by Best then read about 40. Does she intend to read them or respond? I apologise if I sound patronising but I can't for the life of me understand what was going on in her head when she wrote the piece.

To be fair in some areas, I think it's been happening for a long time under both Labour and Tory.
I needed a double by pass in '98 which for our area meant the Middlesex in London, and I had to wait six weeks until there was a bed. Even though I had unstable angina and was in immediate danger of a biggie heart attack I was told if they had any emergencies - by which they meant a private patient, I'd have to wait.
You also got priority according to your age. The younger you were, the quicker they saw to
you.
It was extremely scary.

Whilst I was in ICU a guy came in and the specialist told him he needed a by pass. The bloke got out his cheque book and by the next morning had been transferred to have it done.

If you had a pacemaker fitted on the NHS it was day surgery. If you were a private patient, you had an overnight stay in ICU although they were always short of beds and at times sent people home too soon. It meant we'd see quite a few re-admitted within a couple of days.

Sadly it seems it's still happening.

Well, that state of affairs won't do. I concede the difficulty of rooting out the varying levels of care that have been going on this country for many years. It has to be stopped. Everyone gets the best. A single one level best care is less expensive to everyone than is current arrangements.

People are not a commodity, their health is not a commodity .... well, neither of them should be, but the fact that they are illustrates everything that is wrong with this country at the moment. We've been led down a long road, or possibly a garden path, by Thatcher and Blair and Cameron and it is time to say "Enough!" The consequences of the 'wrong' vote next May just don't bear thinking about.

You know what? I realised the same thing the moment I read it 'emotional intelligence'. It was only when I read it again I'd realised it used to be discussed, mentioned in media & written about all the time but that stopped. It's not just a couple of words. Emotional intelligence is every bit as vital to us as human beings as any other kind of intelligence, qualification, skills training or degree.

Night all.

Thanks to everyone for the excellent links and discussion. I'm now going to tackle my hob and surrounding work surfaces, as Mr DD cooked tea (which was very tasty) but said hob now looks like there's been an explosion in a pasta sauce factory.

Senior ministers are jockeying for position to succeed David Cameron as Conservative leader, as a new poll puts the Tories neck-and-neck with Labour.

The Telegraph/ICM Wisdom Index survey, which asks voters to predict the vote share each party will win, put both Labour and the Conservatives on 31 per cent.

The Wisdom index is not an opinion poll. It simply asks people how many votes they think each party will get at the next election. As a tool to measure VI it is (by design) utterly useless.

Still this is definitely Bad News for David Cameron.

That reminds me - some good therapy sessions with qualified, compassionate, professional psychologists extended to the entire population of this country could really straighten out a lot of people. Emotional intelligence. It's helped me sort out a great deal - I'm the better person for it & I continue to examine my emotions, life, feelings.

Getting in touch with that which makes us terrified is tough without proper support. Feeling terrified all the time because of awful, early experiences is intolerable. Some people get real nasty, hateful & act out in unacceptable ways, they get dangerous when help isn't extended.

A few people need to be kept apart from the general population because they're dangerous. Thankfully, it's only a few out of the whole population.

Everyone would benefit from professional therapy sessions with good people counselling them. This is whole person health I'm talking about here - nothing fancy. Everyone needs some support & tenderness.

It sounds as though a few of Theresa May's panel staff haven't experienced tenderness, kindness or fresh air in their lungs for too long. She needs to makes sure her panel staff have the appropriate skills to do this thing. Scaring people with insensitive documentation isn't okay. A waste of resources, time & people aren't getting justice, closure here.

But they don't get groceries for free. This is an example of why inequality is such a bad thing - we cannot become so alienated from one another it creates such tragic errors about the realities of other people's lives.

Well being an Engineer I tend to

If you asked me what My WI score would be I might go for Lab 35, Con 31, LD 8, UKIP 15.

But it doesn't link to my voting intention. Since the polls are neck and neck in the mid to low 30s a majority view of a draw is a perfectly reasonable result. But it says nothing about VI.

No, is my take on it - not in its current form. I think the whole thing needs to be scrapped and start again - properly. With proper selection of the panel and thorough negotiation of the terms of reference and form of enquiry - with representation at all stages from the survivors / victims of abuse. As it stands - the current set up is utterly tarnished and not fit for purpose. Take May away from it - she's not handled it capably.

The country estate where Ukip is holding its first Welsh party conference received hundreds of thousands of pounds in EU money.

Local protesters outside the venue pointed out that Margam Park, a historic country estate where Ukip’s conference is taking place, received £218,000 of money from the European Regional Development Fund.

Ukip wants to withdraw from the European Union, which it says costs Britain billions of pounds a year.

The money was allocated two years ago and was spent renovating the estate’s historic buildings, including the Orangery venue in which the conference is taking place...

I'm right disappointed by that ... we've walked the dogs in Margam Park (good stop off point when we're driving between Bristol / Cardiff / Newport and here. Lovely place - can't bear to think of Ukip enjoying and polluting the scenery. I'm guessing (maybe incorrectly) that it might be in Letsskip's neck of the woods. I'm sure she won't appreciate their presence either.
