That's lovely. Probably really tiny - but looks amazing in that close up.

Why smart Tories should not be smug about Labour’s Corbyn-mania
Matthew d'Ancona
The way this bearded socialist has stormed through the crash barriers of contemporary politics has real lessons for Cameron and his party

This is a good read and well written. I find Ancona's articles are generally well written even if I don't agree with what he's written. Some of the snippets and suggestions here are interesting - especially on a dreary rainy evening.

Anyone else found themselves thinking that a 'bearded socialist' sounds like a species that whilst not yet endangered is in decline and whose habitats are under threat? Perhaps the RSPB might put them on their big garden watch list next year.

Of course the 'whiskered Tory' - is something else altogether. Not a beastie you want to find in your garden on any occasion.

The most extraordinary thing about Lord Sewel is not the coke or the sex. It's his middle name, Buttifant. Sex and Drugs in Olde Englishe?
He's got to be kidding - isn't he?

The front page of tomorrow's Sun is .... words fail me.

Here's the sub head:
Cop's probe peer's hooker drug romp
Sewel resigns as he's pictured in a bra
which is beneath that very picture.

WRAG2ruin – Response to Budget ESA cuts
Jane Young's excellent article led me to this piece by Ben Baumberg. His article (from just after the Budget) is very thoughtful and useful, as is the conversation BTL which continues up today's date (Sunday):

@ LAC apparently they must be saved from "out of work behaviours" and "unconscious habits".The discipline required and relentless routine and effort required,WHILST BEING ILL just to get through the day,for most would floor the twunts that come up with this misanthropic piffle.

@HindleA: Yep, that's the 'reasoning' behind IDS' version of Social Security (particularly for the ill and disabled.) And I agree about the sheer impossibility for most people who are not fit for work through illness or disability to cope with such a - what? - re-programming? People who can recover need the time for that to happen. People who cannot recover need time to adjust, perhaps through many 'adjustments.' Whichever situation they are in, the last thing they need is the added distress of pressure from authorities who don't seem to believe in illnesses and disabilities that last a long time, perhaps forever - and especially don't believe in illnesses and disabilities that do not, necessarily, show up on the outside - but just need to change behaviours and habits. Twunts is the word.
