My husband is normally calm and polite. But he is suspending that for 24 hours.
He is so angry now, just called Boris 'that little worm'.
We are both feeling less than sympathetic towards our working class comrades, both having been born into that group, who have aligned themselves with Farage and the right.

Morning all.
Thanks for all the comments last night, I've just about caught up. Bristol solid for "remain" as expected so, with a Bristol postcode, at least I don't have to feel like a fish out of water. No doubt Somerset was big for "leave", I haven't had time to check yet. Hating having Rees-Mogg as my MP more than ever right now.
I have lots to digest and may have some more thoughts later on, but my first concern is Northern Ireland. It seems to me the only way to avert complete disaster would be to join the single market like Norway and continue with the free movement of people. I know that's not what a lot of people thought they were voting for, but technically the referendum was exclusively on membership of the EU, not on the single market, not on immigration. Politically and economically it's the most sensible option. Recent history suggests it won't happen, but I can hope. The idea of having a hard border between Northern and the Republic of Ireland is just unthinkable.

We've decided we will resign our membership.
It is too much heartache, investing in voting then watching it trashed by the PLP.

Clegg and his Orange Bookers have a lot to answer for too.
They helped Tory austerity, cheered it on at budgets.
Austerity and recession led to problems in areas like the North and NE, and people see quitting the EU as an answer to their pay, rent and other problems.
It all goes back to 2010. How many of those same right wingers, who said we had to cobble a coalition quickly to stop the markets and currency going down, are now the cause of the market plummeting today. They knew what would happen on Brexit, but still cheer-led it.
They should be up in court for reckless endangerment of the economy, along with 52% of voters.

Brexit vote sets off race to seat European Medicines Agency
Sweden was first out of the gate; expect others to come out today.
LONDON — A race to house the European Medicines Agency will begin in earnest after Britain voted to leave the European Union today.
The result means the EMA will no longer be able to continue its operations from London, and medicines will need an additional, costly, regulatory process to launch their products in Britain as well as in EU member countries.

I don't care for his views"...the British people made a different decision to take a different path. As such I think the country requires fresh leadership to take it in this direction. I will do everything I can as prime minister, to steady the ship in the weeks ahead, but I do not think it would be right for me to try to be the captain that steers our country to the next destination. This is not a decision I have taken lightly but I do think it is in the national interests to have a period of stability and then the new leadership required. In my view we should aim to have new prime minister by the start of the Conservative party conference in October, delivering stability will be in important and I will continue in post with my cabinet for the coming months. The cabinet will meet on Monday."

I have two mental images inspired by Steve Bell. One Nigel Farage hoisting a ragged Condom Dave up a flag pole in Union Jack colours, the other Britannia Boris in full regalia with a spent condom underfoot.
Postscript: I should have been more specific... an empty ragged Condom Dave flapping freely in the breeze up said flag pole. Of course I could just grab a sketch pad...

Re: Friday 24th June 2016
I've just checked the BBC interactive map and Bath and North East Somerset, where I live, voted remain by 58/42 while Mendip, just to the south of us (where my mum lives) voted to remain marginally 51/49. So not only has Somerset not voted resoundingly for leave as I expected, but turns out to be split between north and south, but I also now understand why I'm so out of touch with so many voters. I appear to be living in a Bristol bubble, that stretches south and east and seems to be out of kilter with the world around us, merrily voting a Labour council and mayor when everywhere else is giving up on them and happily voting to remain in the EU as the mood towards Europe sours elsewhere.
