It'd be pretty sickening if Beaker survives as well as Clegg.

Blimey just seen Esther and wondered at her, apparently genuine, words of pride and somewhat doubted them thinking she had held onto her seat judging by her smiles. Hard to tell now that I realise she lost her seat, maybe she really does believe in what she did. That's one of the frightening things about IDS for example. If they really knew they were wrong, let's call it lying, they may actually be slightly less dangerous.
Anyway rather than be cruel I shall try to be magnaminous. Don't aspire to politics, Esther, those who had you marked for great things were deluded. I'm sure you can do better elsewhere..

Now the Wood Pidgeons are going.
Listen don't be too disheartened. This looks like being a minority Tory government that will struggle to pass any new legislation without serious compromises.
It's not going to be like the last five years.

Re: Thursday 7th May
Indeed. We as a nation had a chance to vote for hope, for fairness, for equality; instead we swallowed the Big Lie and have voted for a divisive, vicious and unprincipled party. If they get the majority and, astonishingly, that is looking possible then we deserve every single thing they do to us. I am despondent and I am also desperately worried for many people who post here who will continue to be exposed to the cruelty of the Conservatives; if they carry out half the policies some of them suspect they may then I doubt I will see the next election. It would appear that the electorate is deluded too.
To the SNP I can offer nothing but my utter contempt. They've repeated what they did in 1979 and gifted the Conservatives a win; I saw Salmond interviewed earlier and he did not look as happy as could have been expected largely, I suspect, because he realises that Cameron will be in a position to punish Scotland for what they have done and so ultimately they will have achieved nothing.
A very dark day.

Re: Thursday 7th May
The SNP has a huge job to do. They have Holyrood elections next year & won't want to lose the momentum they currently have but they will be severely curtailed by being in Westminster.

Lib Dem Paul Walter said an hour ago they might struggle to get the 10 projected seats.

The thing I find hard to understand is LibDems losing seats to Tories. I'd have thought those disenamoured with them for the coalition would not have swung to the right and ensured that Tories were not the benefactors by voting tactically.

Hearing the term discontent being applied to backbenchers rather clouds the issue in my book. What about the discontent of the country? I fear things may not go well.
I would close my eyes if I couldn't dream.
Re: Thursday 7th May
Just read that the Greens have beaten the Lib Dems in 60 constituencies, compared to just 1 in 2010.

When Clegg was being asked about going into coalition with the Tories, I didn't realise it nearly meant him on his own.

No, it will be far worse. A Tory Party with the backing of the DUP? You thought they were intolerant bastards before, the last five years are going to seem like a picnic.Sky'sGoneOut wrote:Now the Wood Pidgeons are going.
