Wise post.tinyclanger2 wrote:I realise - admittedly belatedly, and I know you know this already - that Tories really do see being in power as a simple business opportunity. They see nothing wrong with lying and stealing to sell the assets of a nation, under market value, to their chums - who they then champion as "wealth creators" as they pocket the profits that rightfully belong to the rest of us. And they spend the rest of their energies destroying the state with the goal of removing any barriers to them doing more of the same, while reducing the chances of the population from standing up for themselves.
Regardless of the outcome in May, we have to do something about this.
In my opinion, the current Labour party is fundamentally different from the Tory party.
Labour is public service administration.
Tory is free-booting vandals.

Anyway - it's "my not winning". And I'm sure he knows that. He really does think, "It's all about me." Hence his (probably unconscious) choice of language.
Edited to add -
My point being (yes, amazingly, there is one!) "my not winning" would have tripped off his tongue without any thought - if that's really what he had meant.

Especially liked ' Cameron does not deserve to win. He is fighting this election as though it is frankly an irritation that he has to defend himself to the public. He is fighting it with a sense of growing anger that he could possibly be beaten by a man he has so consistently dismissed as a lightweight incapable of persuading the country he could be a Prime Minister. But in this, as in so much else, his arrogance and his belief in his right to rule are reaping a heavy cost for him. Because it looks like he could be wrong.'tinyclanger2 wrote:http://www.alastaircampbell.org/blog/20 ... -beat-him/?

I'd heard that Larry the Cat had resumed his duties as Pest Controller at Number 10 and had removed a chicken last week and that Reuters had mistakenly released a story before its embargo was lifted. I thought Larry had whisked him away to face trial before the Wise Labour Owl. Applications from Somerset Beavers have flooded in from those wishing to stream the event live. Badgers and Foxes, musing of what to do, are being approached by a Stag who's left his parcel of deer sheltering nearby. Squirrels are in attendance too having been pointed out far too frequently, even the fish are babbling in the brook; someone had singled them out too.
Unfortunately I was wrong. What was that about 'David Cameron Kidnapped On Way To Television Studio'? He makes an heroic escape? Well there he is before me on the Andrew Marr Show, he must have after all. I can't wait to hear the details.
Just saying.

There are some voters for whom policy is a turn off and are more swayed by momentum, they like to back a winner. These are tough times for those who want to bank a winner, however, as no single party is obviously in the lead. In which case, I can only say that it won't do Ed Miliband any harm to be seen to be popular. Every time he appears in public now, happy looking people crowd round him for autographs and selfies. Cameron gets a ukulele heckler. The Tory strategists wanted a presidential-syle election, but I'm not sure this is quite what they had in mind!tinyclanger2 wrote:Neologism of the Day:
