"Open Sores"-wish I'd thought of that.Drunken sailor was too tame.
2 years of Tory majority government and we're already back to people waiting on trolleys. God, people have short memories. They had a chance to vote for Ed Miliband and they chose this. What's wrong with people?10:27
The NHS in England is performing at its worst ever level against a raft of targets, including A&E, cancer and people forced to wait on trolleys, the Press Association reports.

How people like your dad react over the next couple of years is quite key to how the Tory government behaves, I suspect. It's reassuring to know that a Ukippy Tory government isn't universally popular with Tory voters. On the plus side, since the EU vote shambles - he's ditched the Telegraph and moved to the Independent. He's strongly pro EU
and very upset about 'where the country is going'
So, it's brought us together...we are now agree on a lot of things.

For every £15 raised in taxes in Sunderland, Government spends £33.
Ooof. That is a big transfer.

AK was dead right last night, but I wouldn't have stopped there.

This is one of my frustrations with Labour under Milliband and so far Corbyn. I understand why they don't want to make too many spending commitments but in the scheme of things legal aid is small change, and a case could be made that the Coalition made false economies.HindleA wrote:https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... e-services
Remember when legal aid was slashed? The awful effects are taking hold

Yahyah, Tubby, pk1 in particular, but not exclusively, what are your thoughts?

There are some who will have rallied behind him when he became POTUS, and given how enthusiastically May has courted Trump 25% from Tories arguably isn't that high.yahyah wrote:Trump's favourability still thankfully low at 19%, but that is up 11 points from 8% six months ago.
Which is the point I was making last week, that he could be viewed more favourably over time the way things are going in politics.
46% of kippers like him, 25% of 2015 Tory voters according to Smithson.

Typical.
Good point. I'm thoroughly demoralised. Parliament is embarking on a course that will materially degrade economic, political and social conditions in the UK. Once gone, it's not coming back. It's not a policy getting worked out better next time. Tory government and the rest of Parliament too, for all I can see, have too much confidence and optimism. Is there really that many votes out there for a Ukippy Tory party? Ultimately the Tories will face their own difficulties in reconciling the opposing views of Eurosceptics and Europhiles. I imagine the realignment of political views post-Brexit will be ongoing.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, where were the tory remain MPs? Labour was always on a hiding to nothing if they wouldn't stand up.
