How the Civil Service is preparing for Brexit
Sir Jeremy Heywood
https://civilservice.blog.gov.uk/2017/0 ... or-brexit/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Across government as a whole, we have so far created over 2,000 new roles specifically to work on Brexit-related issues. We expect to create a similar number of new roles over the coming year - including specialists in finance, accounting, law, digital, project management and trade negotiation - as the EU negotiations progress, the necessary Brexit legislation moves through Parliament, and we design and implement new systems and policies.

Despite these extra resources, the Civil Service as a whole will continue to reduce in size as the bigger departments like the Department for Work and Pensions and HM Revenue and Customs continue to digitalise and improve their customer service. The Civil Service is already at its smallest - and I believe most efficient - since the Second World War. But, within the declining overall total, the resources devoted to the highest political priority of the Government - ensuring a successful Brexit - will be protected.
I'm having another 'is it just me' moment.
No money for public sector pay rises but 2000 new brexit jobs already and soon the same again?
Civil Service excluding brexit will reduce in size but DWP and HMRC will improve customer service?
Is digitalise even a word?

I'm starting to think it's not just our politicians who are pygmies compared with previous generations.

Watchdog investigates claims of people voting twice at general election.Sadly,the 2,800ish times necessary to stop blue takeover here was even beyond me.

Vote early, vote often - as they say.

(That's a dash, by the way.)
