Dominic Grieve on BBC News right now pouring cold water on the idea being able to negotiate our own trade deals could ever be worth losing the benefit of a Customs Union with the EU and basically backing Labour's position over the government's .

Just finished reading Corbyn's speech
I've not looked at any other press yet
the EU negotiating team want to know what the UK wants
They'll find coherent, reasonable cooperation from Labour

@davidallengreen

The government confirms it will not join the customs union proposed by Corbyn and instead UK will be in another form of customs union which will not be the Customs Union or any existing customs union but a new customs union, with the very same effect as the Customs Union.

Clear?

There's lots to enjoy on this report about Toby Young's appointment and then resignation from the Office for Students.

I particularly like the bit in s.24 about trawling for anything on social media...

Union's a bit too, you know, lefty, really.
Maybe something more like a Gentleman's Customs Club?
(Or saw some mention of a Customs Unicorn, earlier)

Theresa May will hand out the £1bn in her “cash for votes” deal with the Democratic Unionist Party without MPs’ prior approval, The Independent can reveal, putting the Government at risk of legal action.
The Commons will only vote after slices of the funds have been allocated to Northern Ireland , and will be denied a single vote on the overall £1bn – despite the Government conceding last year that Parliament’s “authorisation” is needed.

No problem TBG, she's going to get KPMG to audit the petty cash, they are shit-hot :-)

I'm simple-minded, he quite often makes me laugh , reminding us of fings ...

"" What goes around, comes around. Less than a year ago, the three Labour Coventry MPs had come to the city’s university to hear Gordon Brown campaign on their behalf during the general election. Not once in the course of that hour-long event was Jeremy Corbyn mentioned. The name was considered just too toxic. Now those same three Labour MPs were back at the same university to give the Labour leader their undivided attention and support as he made his bid to become the next prime minister.""

Obviously untrue ?

Well, Osborne's a rather nasty but not-stupid creep who has seen that the Tories are missing the boat . But unfortunately ,for HIM, he'll remain Austerity Osborne.

IF Labour have a brain in their head ...

This bit is not quite accurate, as Hammond and others do not follow the BoJo /Fox/Gove fantasies --

" The Tories have also bought the fiction that global deals with China or the US could replace trade flows with Europe. This fallacy is built on the idea that the UK could undercut and deregulate its way to growth. Labour recognises this is not possible nor desirable. Instead, it is refreshingly realistic and hard-nosed."

But in so far as TMay goes along with the hard Brexiters , the self-styled tough negotiators, she ends up in their camp.

. After a bit about Labour backing a jobs-first Brexit – has any party every backed an unemployment-first Brexit? – Corbyn got to his big sell.
I can't always work out when he's being serious.

I think he's just ignoring what Corbyn said about having some say in the Customs Union and not just being an observer. Rees-Mogg is fighting yesterday's battles (again).
