A dog turd has some uses (tanning, for example) whereas Hughes has none that I can see.

I do get that the NATO Summit is the 'Big Event' but comments on the catering for journos, the lunchtime menu for the delegates and a bit about the Red Arrows and not a single word about a significant & embarrassing defeat for the Government? Admittedly, it's a slow hand clap, but I suppose it goes to show that they do have a vague sense of self preservation in the FibDems. Shame it'll probably never make it to the statute book (private members' bills rarely do). I noted above that this probably signals the beginning of the end for the coalition, so you can expect very little government business to get through the house, if this becomes the default setting, IMO.

To my mind, it's too little, too late, and neatly ignores the fact that the bedroom tax wouldn't even be on the statute book were it not for the Fibs supporting in the first place. Expect FibDemVoice to trumpet this bill as the true spirit of the FibDems whilst quietly ignoring how it became law.

I'm in the library and have been lurking up to now.

I see this picks up on the story that Wembley Matters ran which I commented on yesterday. It's all very well saying that:

"The whole concept of free schools is that they can happen anywhere. We try to save the taxpayer money by trying to make use of old buildings."

But the fact remains that many of them simply aren't suitable to use as schools. Gove talked about one starting in the DfE! Playground? Playing fields?

I don't buy the "Oh I couldn't work" line - she could have easily slotted into a school after the fuss died down but she'd set her mind on running a school herself.

I do wonder why Daisy Christodoulou and Harriet Sergeant have bailed out as governors even before the school starts - especially as Daisy was supposed to be their curriculum expert. Wouldn't you want to see it in action first?. Maybe they found they couldn't deal with her. It'll come out eventually I reckon.

They spent £170,000 before they deferred the opening in 2012, but it was money well spent:

Panel looks like it will have different areas of expertise. The chair needs to be a bright person who isn't associated with a particular one.
