Hi

Just "clicking my heels" until the rugby sevens final.

A while to go yet but I'm pleased that our men are will get a silver medal, at least.

Oh, and I know it's teamwork but well done on that try, Dan Norton.

Brings to mind:

Would a highly trained dressage horse willingly park in a cupboard where bats were hanging?

Possibly the last time we'll compete as GB in the Olympics. In 2020 we'll field teams Cornwall, Wales, Scotland, United Kingdom of Ireland, London-and-the-Cities, and Lesser England

My husband used to have to enter sub-stations to read meters.

He always said that it was not a pleasant experience; hundreds of bats disturbed can be quite unnerving, apparently.

Of course, a sole one, such as HA, might be a delightful experience :-)

Ladies and gentlemen!

I give you - the Food Olympics!

1. The Spaghetti Time Trials - large bowl of spaghetti in red sauce, 30cm from mouth, to be eaten with a fork only. You will be disqualified if you get any red sauce anywhere, slurp or suck, or fail to finish your spaghetti before bedtime.

2. The Doughnut Challenge - you must eat 3 jam doughnuts, with no water or cup of tea, in 5 minutes. You will be disqualified if you lick your lips at all, squirt jam on your clothing or at the judges. (American policemen may not enter this event)

3. Synchronised Tea Drinking - teams of two people drink Lapsang Souchong from Crown Derby cups. Raising of the little finger at a precise angle and genteel sipping of beverage must be performed in unison and will be marked on technique and artistic impression.

There will be no competitions involving chocolate cake.

It's all gone.

1 and 2 a reasonable chance of qualifying,3 not much chance due to genteel controlled action more solo slurping out of a bucket.

We used to try 2 when I was in primary school. It was particularly difficult as the doughnut's themselves were jam-less, but the jam was poured over them.

I did seriously train running when I first started,I kept running into lampposts, small children and oncoming cars, that is why I only enter organised events and tag behind somebody, this can backfire as in running into somebody's house who wasn't part of the event at all.

I have seen truckers doing it back in my hitch-hiking days whilst hurtling down the motorway without the bicycle mind. Cup of tea in the other hand. No pinkies thankfully.

Got home from work about 45 minutes ago, decided to check out the Perseids. Gorgeous - first one I saw left a streak across the sky like a firework.

Now raising a glass to the shade of LadyC.
