The standfirst - I didn't make it any further:
Fox tells Tory party conference a guarantee to EU citizens in UK before negotiations would ‘hand over one of our main cards'
Assuming this does represent what this poisonous crook actually said, here you go Europeans that are resident here, you're nothing other than a card in the negotiating deck. Enjoy your stay in the UK now, won't you.

That stunt is rubbish. It's £4.7 billion that Boris now owes the NHS.

They suggested a Leave vote may re-open Scotland's independence issue and put Northern Ireland's "future at risk" by threatening its current stability.

This must be the worst crock of policies served up by a government in power in my lifetime, yet Laura K can only say the conference has been "gaffe free".

How could there possibly be any gaffes, when the policies are so blindingly offensive and/or stupid?

Seriously, do the Tories have the semblance of a coherent policy apart from those they stole from Labour?

Diane James 'quits' as Ukip leader after just 18 days as successor to Nigel Farage

Ukip leader Diane James has quit the role after just 18 days, it has been reported.

Reports suggest that she had been "deeply unhappy for personal reasons about her new role".

Ukip's media team were not immediately available for comment.

Her departure, if confirmed, will raised speculation that her predecessor Nigel Farage could make a comeback. (Telegraph - my emphasis - Ha!)

Moving to Australia has become increasingly tempting for junior doctors demoralised by the bitter dispute over a new contract, but Hunt plans to prevent an exodus by forcing trainee doctors to work in the NHS for four years before they can accept overseas postings.
Add to the attractiveness of small-minded xenophobia, our cost of living/ salary mismatch and the likely diminution of employment rights, so many skilled people will be leaving the place they'll be begging people to come here.

Fiasco.

Evening folks,
As promised, I've just been to the Tyneside Film Theatre to see a special premiere of "I, Daniel Blake", Ken Loach's latest movie, and a winner of the Palm D'Or at Cannes. He, the leading actors, writer and screenplay blokey were there to lead a discussion afterwards.
For those who don't know, it's the story of an ordinary man thrown, through no fault of his own, into the clutches of the 'welfare system'. A bit close to home for some here, perhaps, as it was for me, but if you get the chance, go see it*. Mrs 55 says it's one if the best she's ever seen.

*Take hankies.

Edited to add: Just in case anyone thinks I'm a plutocrat, it cost £7:00 and I went on the metro.

Damning report condemns rising 'racist violence and hate speech' by politicians and press in post-Brexit UK

...

“It is no coincidence that racist violence is on the rise in the UK at the same time as we see worrying examples of intolerance and hate speech in the newspapers, online and even among politicians,” said ECRI chair Christian Ahlund.

...

The report joined human rights groups in condemning his description of asylum seekers risking their lives to reach the UK as a “swarm” in 2015.

My keyboard has a £ sign above the 3. The hash sign is on the key with the squiggle (tilde?) on it (hash sign is below the tilde).

Wasn't that interesting? Bet you're glad I told you! I can't help with your problem, though. But just think of how much knowlege you've gained.
