Could national populism have reached its high-water mark in western politics. Perhaps globally? It may be too early to say, but some signs point to a pushback against rampant xenophobia, bigotry and the ruinous fascination with strongmen. The indications are fragile, but without doubt they are there.

I sincerely hope she's right.

I sincerely hope she's right.

She's an absolutely terrible writer though, with equally terrible opinions. When somebody I respect suggests that may be true, I might listen......

(just one thing as an example, Clinton's "resurgence" is almost *entirely* down to The Donald's implosion - naff all to do with any positive actions on her part)

Yes, I agree. Some things aren't business. It's a governments' job to protect people and land. Health, social
care and environmental protections, for example. Protection of people and land takes precedent over businesses.

The last time I looked there are over 200 countries in the world, with over 190 at the United Nations. Only 28 of them are in Europe. Countries like New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Iceland, Switzerland all seem to manage fine outside the EU. The idea Britian can’t is bollocks.

My reaction was rather like that of Bud White (Russell Crowe) listening to the Night Owl patsies talk about women in LA Confidential. Except I stopped short of violence.

So I'll pass on hearing any more, thanks.
