Such a great double cut statement that it'll feature in the BBC news, right?

Government rules out Orgreave inquiry
They don't want Thatcher's orders to SY Police being examined by an independent panel.

:toss:
What's the chance of this being in a memo or letter?
Fairly good I'd have thought & it doesn't seem that long ago that her notes in the strike, assuming they existed, were discussed on here so we were either right to think the notes would exist back then & again now or we were wrong then & I'm wrong now.
In any case, I don't think the Cons were ever going to risk any such note, if any exist, being released to an independent panel.

Nick Jones on PM was saying to Mair that any inquiry would result in papers withheld having to be provided and that the Thatcher loyalists (his phrase) would be desperate that this doesn't happen, given how she micromanaged the strike.

#Neil Crowther

So arrived at para 130 - benefits assessment. 'Personalised' 'requirements' to be set by Work Coach for those in Support Group.
'We would of course put safeguards in place to ensure work coaches do not require someone attend an appointment where not reasonable.'
So the #GreenPaper's embrace of personalisation is in fact an extension of conditionality into the Support Group?

No mention of anti-discrimination measures or tackling prejudice. Nothing about personal budgets or personal health budgets #GreenPaper

Appalled about #Orgreave decision. The lesson from Hillsborough is that this will not stand, the truth will be discovered & justice done.

As ever, Ed says exactly the right thing IMHO.

ouch
May, we were told after the conference speech, did not mean to question the Bank’s independence and was merely expressing sympathy with savers. She should learn to take care. Her words provoked a pointless row about central bank independence and she ended up begging Carney to stay. In the event, the governor has agreed the shortest possible extension. He has had the last laugh while May’s handling looks amateurish.

May and her government are without doubt a complete shambles. Worse than Cameron I reckon and FFS that's saying something.

But where is the narrative? Corbyn of course is by definition hopeless. Whereas St Theresa of Maidenhead.....

It's a complete mess. I genuinely hoped at least May would restore some order.
