Morning all.
'Labour’s deputy leader will say it is time to reject the “sneering derision from much of Britain’s commentariat and chattering classes” and make the case for supporting British producers by buying more goods and services domestically.'
FFS.
This is 'the plan' from Watson?

This is 'the plan' from Watson?

Does he mean "domestically produced" or is he calling upon people to stop making unnecessary journeys to places like Utrecht to buy the odd box of teabags?
Edited to add -
Ah - I've just read it again. He does mean "domestically produced" I infer.

Wait until he actually delivers the speech. He may not mean what he says. Corbyn said one thing and actually meant another earlier in the week.
Re: Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th January 2017
Is it just me, or is it Labour's new policy to find as many ways to insult, deride and dismiss remain voters as they can?
Is this "populism"? To team up with Tories and Ukip to attack people who are outward looking and pro-European? To put down young people who want to study and work abroad, who are worried about jobs and their own futures as selfish, complacent liberal elites?
I'm all for building bridges, leave and remain voters need to learn to understand each other better, but I want Labour to support remaining in the single market. Siding with leave voters and putting their views above remain voters and generally undermining remain voters as somehow wrong, will not persuade leave voters that remaining in the single market is the key to our future prosperity. Rather it re-enforces their sense of being right, and those who want to be part of Europe as being wrong, surely?
Remain voters aren't all "elites". Wanting to stay in the EU is a normal thing to want. Just as remain voters need to remember all leave voters aren't the same (the large majority of them aren't Labour voters for a start) Labour politicians need to remember not all remain voters are the same either. A lot of them are young people, mourning lost opportunities. We are not the enemy ffs. Do they have any idea how this is coming across?

Labour List trail it as Watson delivering an 'upbeat' message and seeking to move Labour on from the Article 50 turmoil.

Isolationism, protectionism, nationalism.
This appear to be what Tom Watson is peddling.
I may have misunderstood, but Labour currently appears to be going all out for the Ukip/hard Brexit vote which, tbf, Theresa May has already got pretty well covered.
The Libdems will be stoked.

From Tom Watson
"He will also set out how he believes Britain should respond to Donald Trump’s repeated demands to put “America first”, particularly in trading relationships, which the US president is due to discuss with Theresa May this weekend."
Why do people not understand that "America First" is not just a economic slogan, but a movement of the Alt-Right - just as Britain First is over here.
Labour is broken isn't it ?

It might help inequality though. Quite a few of these folk earn a lot of money. It would save having to cap their pay, like Jez said, because they're not as worthy as footballers.
