Okay, okay...it's been withdrawn, Banksy's offer. It's for the best, that withdrawal, it was going to cause electoral problems and we don't need any of those. I love Banksy's work. It's graffiti.

Priti Patel, the international development secretary, clearly does not believe that Diane Abbott is ill. (See 2.24pm.) CCHQ has issued this statement from Patel:

Jeremy Corbyn wants to make Diane Abbott home secretary in just two days but is hiding her away from voters.
*deep deep sigh*

And in all likelihood they're going to get away with this.

I long maintained, and sought to prove, that the song "On Broadway" was so well written that it couldn't be ruined by anyone. To that end, I sought out loads of versions ranging from "The Drifters'" version to Gary Numan's version. Then I came across Neil Young's version . . .

My brother is a walking phrase book,he uses "better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick" quite a lot.At a theoretical level I would think in most cases it would be hard to argue against, though never had my eye so poked, and it is vague as to level of thrust and particular gouging effect and which eye etc not a definitive statement that can universally applied.

The Gibraltar incident is what "shoot to kill", as a policy, refers to and that is what JC was answering. However, Kuenessberg used the phrase in relation to armed police shooting dead terrorists/armed attackers etc and deliberately conflated the two. This is why the BBC was censured over it.

Don't be. It's likely sent because we're in a region where many had voted Leave. I'm so angry I'm unable to post a copy of it just now. I thought just covering the name at the top would be sufficient but there's personalised content within the document. The intimacy the woman presumes is offensive.

Her personal rudeness towards Jeremy Corbyn is vile

edited to add

The entire letter (two sides) is ugly, disingenuous, cultivating fear, threatening terrible things happening if she's not returned to government. I can't stress that enough. I'm just staggered by it.

Labour communications to me have been factual and completely without personal ugliness.

I've never read anything so wholly and totally unprofessional as Theresa May's letter contents.

At 4.18 in the vid she asks her trick question -

“If you were prime minister would you be happy to order people, police or military, to shoot to kill on Britain’s streets.”

( Shoot to kill in the Gibraltar example was killing the unarmed . )

If Corbyn thought that was what she meant, he could have said so, but he could have and should have corrected her use of the phrase when applied to the recent Bataclan situation ( which they had been discussing before...) when the police OBVIOUSLY shoot at the armed criminals/fanatics.

Who may survive, or not .

She trapped him with that precise phrase, but his answer was very very sloppy . Just look ---

"I am not happy with the shoot to kill policy in general. I think that is quite dangerous and I think it can often be counterproductive. I think you have to have security which prevents people firing off weapons where you can and there are various degrees of doing things, as we know, but the idea you end up with a war on the streets is not a good thing. Surely you have to work to try and prevent these things happening. That has got to be the priority."

Hopeless then, in November 2015, but I think he's sharpened up a bit since .

It might sound appealing on the face of it, but what Human Rights Laws would need to go? And how would it affect the Human Rights of people more generally? Law of "unintended" (ha ha) consequences.

Subscriptions to "The Week" and some clothing seller called "Romwe"?!

What advertising algorithm are Conservative Home using?

I normally get ads for stuff I just bought from Littlewoods. Which really is the extreme in tailored advertising.

(What is "Romwe" anyway? It's a terrible name for, well, anything.)
