Very impressed if it's true that the Prime Minister has decided to soldier on. In these circumstances, that takes real courage.

And those circumstances - whose fault were they exactly? Berk.

It's a quote from the leader of the DUP, Arlene Foster. When it comes to the political classes talking about how it's difficult to see how a leader can survive, she should know.

Sorry, but that first stat is nonsense (even though it - wrongly - got some publicity immediately afterwards) Youth turnout in the EU referendum was almost two thirds, one thing that made Labour people optimistic they could get a significant increase this time. But 72% is amazing :)

Not sure what can be done about it right now, though their finally realising May won't give them their fabled "best Brexit" might help them come round.

She bluffs it out until she does or doesn't get a Queen's Speech and Budget through the commons.

Edited to add - and then Labour would have to be allowed to have a go - and then they'd look around and see if there was any other possibility - and then there would have to be another election.

The point about 'Gordon Brown 2010 Territory' is that she is the Prime Minister and she's entitled to try to get a programme vote passed in the commons. Whether it's right to charge ahead without any surety of getting there, given that we should have a government focussed on negotiating with the EU, is another question.

The DUP’s ‘price’ for propping up a new Conservative government will include a promise that there would be no post-Brexit special status for Northern Ireland, the party’s leader in Westminster has confirmed.
Nigel Dodds, re-elected as North Belfast MP, said that among their preconditions would be an insistence that there was no separate deal that would effectively keep the region with one foot still inside the EU.
I'm sorry for the language, but to stop me from saying it outright:

Morning.

Haven't had much sleep so will only add a few words of muddled thought at this point.

Some may remember that I said that it didn't matter by how much Theresa May won by, if she got a majority of any description she would have won a mandate for hard Brexit and two extra years to make it stick. So I'm obviously very happy this morning because she hasn't won a majority and there is no mandate to take us out of the single market. Really happy to see Labour MPs returned ( especially Clive Lewis ) and that younger voters have worked out how to vote. Heaven knows what comes next, I'm not good at predictions, my only one being that Rees-Mogg would be returned locally, but not a hard one to predict, let's face it!

Sorry that HindleA's prediction their constituency would turn blue came to pass. Thanks for all the comments overnight, have just finished catching them up now. Much more enjoyable experience than 2 years ago!
