You're not *still* maintaining that Corbyn will quit? Even now?AnatolyKasparov wrote:If this parliament makes it to 2021/22 - unlikely at the moment I know, but it is IMO harder to force an early election than some realise - then its not impossible that all of May, Corbyn and even Cable (assuming he is elected, as is overwhelmingly likely) could be gone.adam wrote:I wonder if, now that they've had to accept that Corbyn is not electoral suicide, one of the Con's plans and desires for holding on as long as possible is that he will be significantly more 'old' come the next fixed-term election.AnatolyKasparov wrote:If he gets it, that must be the oldest set of leaders the three main parties have had since...........well, universal suffrage at least?
(Just to be clear, this is not a comment from me about disparaging age, but I can see how people might try to make an electoral issue out of it. Obviously whether they'd actually manage to make anything of it is another question.)

Reminded by D Conn "Panenka" penalty" was 41 years ago today.I also have a technique named after me,where you point to the sky and say "look an aeroplane" and whilst the goalie is suitably distracted blast the ball into the goal. Not used often.

Lovely writingseeingclearly wrote:dystopia already upon us, CJA, nothing left for government to do, sit back enjoy rich pickings and picking off low hanging fruit reminds me of lazy colonials sitting on verandahs with their g&t's picking off crows in the morning sun, soused on their own importance. on the other hand starting to feel lurkio not an author around who could really accurately portray our times, no one would believe them. besides am losing a grip on capitals, never a good sign.
solstice a big deal here too, obstetric specialist was a lab researcher, first medical post, courtesy of thatcher around 1/4 century ago. we survived no thanks to thatcher, due to last minute surgery by immigrant african dr o, never to be forgotten.

Forget About Brexit, Focus on the Euro Area Future
As expected, the difference in political, economic, and bureaucratic capabilities between the EU-27 under the renewed joint leadership of France and Germany, on the one hand, and the May government in London on the other is so vast that the distraction of the Brexit maneuvering should be ignored. We already know that the United Kingdom will either agree to the EU-27’s demands or suffer from damaging exit.
