Call for free prescriptions for long-term ill

As an aside,I would like to thank the pharmacy staff for putting me in the recovery position.I have a collapsing reaction to "morethanatenner",the per item thing threw me in thankfully rare need for prescriptions.

Good morfternoon.

Martin Moore-Bick ("for now" - as HindleA said). A choice to inspire the residents' confidence.
This must surely be a deliberate delaying tactic on the part of the Government. Still, Dominic Raab admires him.

This crocodile tear display from Allen, Woolaston and Mercer is disgraceful. A desperate attempt to appear caring. Leave an entry on Twitter or a blog to show how you really feel. Actions speak louder than words MFs.

The cheering at the end is prime gif/video clip material.

Just to remind us that things can and will get worse, the Murdoch/Sky decision is due later today.

An early comment on the Guardian blog sums that up:

Are the Tories willing to piss off Murdoch at a time when support for them is so wobbly and the country could easily be swayed by some of his rags and Sky News?

I've just been reading that but was too depressed to mention it. I think the comment which you've quoted above probably just about sums it up. After the DUP bribe, I'm not expecting a sudden surge of morality.

Have we had this one?

Staffordshire University Academy put in special measures as pupil behaviour criticised

Extended quote...
A school where pupils were seen throwing objects in class and using homophobic slurs has been put into special measures.

Staffordshire University Academy, in Marston Road, Hednesford, has been rated inadequate in every category bar one by Ofsted.

A report prepared after inspectors visited at the end of April said: “Behaviour in some lessons is unacceptable. Pupils were heard using homophobic language; some sat with their feet on desks, others were calling out and ignoring their teachers. "In a few lessons, objects were thrown across the room during lessons. Pupils’ learning was significantly hampered in these lessons.”

Inspectors added: “Teaching lacks the challenge necessary for pupils to achieve their potential. In too many lessons, learning is slow or disrupted by poor behaviour. For many pupils, especially disadvantaged pupils, progress is not good.
“Much learning does not engage pupils, so they do not put much effort into their work and make little progress. The lack of breadth in the school’s curriculum has not helped pupils’ engagement.

“Very few pupils have been able to follow courses in geography, history and languages. Pupils have been required to follow courses that add little value to their future employability.”

Now, what excuse are those "woke" self-decribed "liberal moderate" Tory MPs going to find for not supporting this one?

Or perhaps they actually will, it would be nice. Not holding my breath though!

This is very clever of Stella Creasy, if it passes as an amendment to the Queens speech DUP will have to vote for it under the bribe agreement.

Or it will break the agreement. It seems reasonably unlikely - they must have considered this as a possibility one way or another, if not something that would arise so quickly. But it's the kind of thing that could make them say 'Never'.

As I understood it voting for the Queens speech is the main part of agreement which is why the Tory manifesto was stripped bare. What they didn't foresee was an MP putting forward - and getting it accepted for debate - an abortion amendment.

You would think so, but this is what Sky's shares did when the announcement was made, so somebody obviously thinks it's good for murdoch (and the market, of course, cannot be wrong).

Seen a couple of tweets suggesting Gov now trying to "bang together" charities that they will then fund to provide abortion services for NI at no cost to women. This is to try to convince wavering Tory's not to back amendment.
