Morning,

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/gove ... l-mobility" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A new report published by the Social Mobility Commission today (Monday 3 July) into the impact of low-cost home ownership schemes found that those benefitting from schemes - such as Help to Buy - earn more than one and a half times the national working age median income.

Around 3 in 5 first-time buyers said that they would have bought anyway and that the scheme merely enabled them to buy a better property, or one in a better area, than they were originally looking for.

Corbyn supporters are not a cult
Dr Robin Bunce
http://www.politics.co.uk/comment-analy ... ot-a-cult-" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Much of the concern about a 'Corbyn cult' presupposes that some forms of political participation are legitimate, whilst others are inherently suspicious. Specifically, engaging in policy discussion is put at the top of the hierarchy of legitimate engagement, while cheering at a gig is relegated to the bottom.
what would a society be like if its heroes were cyclists who made jam in their spare time? If Britain's heroes were people who lived in sixties terraces, people who don't know all six verses of the national anthem, people who had opposed Apartheid in the 80s, and the Iraq war in the noughties, maybe a society with that kind of a hero would be a decent one?

IFS Publication from 10th May this year - What's Been Happening to Corporation Tax
Cuts to corporation tax rates announced between 2010 and 2016 are estimated to reduce revenues by at least £16.5 billion a year in the short to medium run. Accounting for measures that raise revenue, including anti-avoidance measures, onshore corporate tax policies over this period reduce revenues by an estimated £12.4 billion a year. Changes to corporate tax have represented some of the largest giveaways in both parliaments since 2010.

The one I know personally is not very good.

That's nearly as good as your "dim" moment the other day Hugo.

Are you OK?
With Hugo's track record and his own high level of competence in being 'dim' then the person in question is probably the next Einstein!

Has any person in the whole of human history ever been less self-aware?

I may be many things but I don't recall every calling anyone thick or dim, apart from Hugo (with tongue in cheek to be fair) - it takes someone of extreme arrogance to call someone else 'dim' and mean it
