Pasta with grilled courgettes in a lemon juice/olive oil/grated parmesan "sauce". It's a winner.
I might try that one, I do feel its time I grew up and ate courgettes properly

Hague seems to be Minister for Media.

Odd choice, as bloke on another board has pointed out. He's not even going to be in the Commons after 2015

Stephen Crabb, the Welsh secretary, has said that the government will offer Wales greater tax-varying powers. He told the conference:
Our tax devolution will end the politics of the begging bowl in Wales. And so will begin a new era of responsible government in Wales. This is devolution with a purpose.
You can see where this is heading, can't you?

Cut to the grant, go and levy the extra money yourself. Given that tax cuts don't "pay for themselves", it's likely to involve having higher tax than England. Scotland (rightly) has decided that's a non-starter.

Not at all pulled out of the Tory arse to make English Votes thing look more plausible.

How have the Welsh Government been irresponsible?

I've completely forgotten how to even put a link for an image off Twitter:

But has anyone else seen the shot of Grant Shapps standing in front of Conservative Youth in their Union Jack T-shirts?

Seriously disturbing. Someone on Twitter likened them to cult members. Which I thought was a good description. Wish there was a closer shot because from what I can see their body language is interesting...

Puzzling too. They're young. Have sharp brains, and yet they can sit - which suggests support - behind a serial liar...

Dog back.

Trotted in looking very pleased with whatever adventure she had decided to have.

Mr Riots summonsed back from his field trip with 2 short sharp blasts of the whistle we have for this very purpose (yes, we really do ...).

No point in chastising dog (or Mr Riots). Far too late for that.

Dinner will be later than usual tonight.

Hi ohso - yes, that's a very good read and nails it down. The list of directors at IDS' pet think tank is quite terrifying in their removal from reality and the everyday lives of so many - not least the people they purport to 'understand'.

Full marks to you (and Bernadette Mearden) to raising this one. It's well worth retweeting as it gets right to the heart of why IDS is wrong and is making such a colossal mess of his brief, and why the Graun should hang its head in eternal shame. 'In praise of Iain Duncan Smith' indeed. A memorable low.

An eye opener on his think tank too. Guys in high up jobs, and they've come up with schemes that are wasting eye watering amounts.
Incompetent. If I saw mention of George Smith's think tank on their CV I wouldn't give them a job. Or want them sitting on the board of any company I might own.

They're buggers for that down here. I'm next door, in South Hams, and in the Great 90's Tory Meltdown we were suddenly overwhelmed with "Independants". Happily, the council saved a little bit of money because all they had to do to change the big notice board at the entrance to Follaton House was to put a sticker under the photo of each frit Tory councillor changing their allegiance.

Given what came to pass in '97' I'd say that this is, albeit unquantifiable, a heartening piece of news.

Try grating them with the coarsest side, then blanch them briefly in boiling water. A great alternative to pasta and a decent veg, as long as you don't overcook.

We've got lots of those 'Independents' here too. In our case it seems to be code for Tories of a Freemason persuasion. We also have a unique class system of Independents as we have the additional layer of 'Independents Plus'. Super shit Tories of a Freemason persuasion.

Whoever knew what a dab hand the FTN crew would prove to be with recipe advice. Thank you 55DN. I will give it a go - especially as we have several courgettes of the 'larger' variety on the go.

Lets hope its a prophecy
(By the way I predict a Labour Landslide, and have done for the past year from about the time my hard core tory - now ex tory - neighbour started referring to the unemployed as "those poor buggers" instead of "scrounging bas£ards")

I thought Michael Gove was meant to be the minister for the TV? Today, shortly after the political shows, he was spotted in Birmingham Boots

I don't know why I think that's funny - but I do - I really do.
If the spirit of Spike Milligan is looking down/up at us, the hubbub in the pharmacy would have gone quiet just as he ordered a tub of Blue Unction in a loud voice.

John Crace has almost written a good column:
As Shapps once operated under the aliases of both Michael Green and Sebastian Fox when promoting his internet business, you’d have thought he might have had some sympathy for a man with an identity crisis. But the new caring Conservatism only extends so far.

I saw that as well, I assumed I was hallucinating. Clearly not.

That H&M blog is very good. Labour needs to up its game in such seats and appeal to what are some of the poorest and most disenfranchised people around. I work hard as a Labour councillor, but I'm always aware that I have to strive to cover every last inch, and that's far more the case for poorer wards such as those highlighted.

Langley (a Manchester overspill that should comfortably return Labour councillors) turning to UKIP is either the sign of utter despair or a major plea for a lot less southern England, middle class Blairism and a return to ordinary people, not just those who can afford the mock Tudor homes and run two cars. The blog links well with the Graun link I posted earlier about the Labour party and the subsequent posts I made on the subject which, frankly, I was hoping would excite a few replies.

Langley has always had a BNP/ ELD feel. Skin heads with Rottweiler's or pit bulls rome freely round the estate. Not pleasant. I got attacked on Bowlee once, fortunately they did not realise how scatty my horse was till he booted of them in the gut ;) Or how fast he could move.....
I was going to reply to the other post but got tied up with cooking an stuff, now its got too late :)
Will dig in tomorrow.
Night all :) Been a happy day
