. Labour had the backing of vastly more third party campaigners and organisations than the Conservatives. From fox hunting to ivory to food banks to school funding, on a myriad of issues there were well-funded, well-organised groups and individuals pushing out effectively pro-Labour messages to millions of people.

Gist of the article is (apparently) that writer is concerned about effect on campaigns in future, rather than result of the election.
It seems a bit far fetched to claim Tories are outspent,
but also, maybe not picking an unnecessarily wide range of society might have been a good idea, rather than complaining about them having the audacity to fight back?

The controversial Perry Beeches academy trust in Birmingham is finally set to be disbanded, with its five schools handed to other trusts, 15 months after financial irregularities were first revealed.
Schools Week understands that proposals to close the trust and rebroker its schools have finally been agreed, and are awaiting sign-off from the academies minister Lord Nash.

Four of the schools are set to be handed to the Core Education Trust, which was set up to take over two Birmingham schools caught up in the Trojan Horse affair. Ark will take on the other school.

...or those who highlight every bit of misconduct in the NHS - they're strangely silent too. Funny that...

Re last night's query about polling - Labour also scored 46% in Panelbase last weekend. But had done so only once previously in Miliband's leadership, and indeed for the last 15 years. They last registered higher in mid-2002, pre the Iraq war build up.

Critics of Jeremy Corbyn have won election to the party’s parliamentary committee, as the struggle between allies and opponents of the leader continues despite a new eight-point poll lead for Labour.

Among those elected to the influential backbench body, which has a weekly meeting with Corbyn, were Neil Coyle, Graham Jones, Angela Smith and Ruth Smeeth.

And why did we give university vice-chancellors a licence to print money, and pay themselves £400,000 salaries, in a decade when austerity has dominated every other public service, including schools and hospitals?

Debts of £50,000 for graduates are far more than I envisaged, and make the system unworkable

Tuition fees of £9,250 and rising won’t survive. Nor do they deserve to. The only question is whether they are abolished entirely or whether cross-party support can be built to keep fees to between £1,000 and £3,000, as per their introduction 13 years ago.

Thanks for this. Worth the read.

Of course for clarity maybe it is a good thing that there is an amnesty, because of course everyone know those pesky illegals will do anything for a chance to become legal. When they don't turn up, for the obvious reasons, those who love ranting about such things will not have a leg to stand on. Of course they will have some crazy theories, but at least the rest of everyone will be able to see just how bad it has become. That alt-right narrative that ten years ago was a minority grievance and is currently a major driver of our national insanity.
