I *do* hope you'll remember what false equivalence means the next time someone condemns all the atrocities in Syria committed by anyone, all side in Ukraine, all racism from whatever source, and all the violence by anyone in Venezuela.RobertSnozers wrote:Your comment has more in common with Trump's than Corbyn's does.False equivalence is a logical fallacy in which two opposing arguments appear to be logically equivalent when in fact they are not. 2. Supporting Maduro, and then refusing to condemn him, is a bad thing.
3. Saudi Arabia is an appalling regime (of no relevance to the crimes now being committed by the government of Venezuela.)
Again, you seem to think that condemning Corbyn et al for their moral blindness on Venezuela means endorsing the Tories. A very odd "sport" view of politics. Condemn them both.
As I said at the time, I am not that fussed by Corbyn's predictable views on Venezuela, more amused by his refusal to specifically condemn the government that he has supported. So typical of his inability to criticise any wrongdoing by his 'side'. It is characteristic.
I'm glad I didn't vote for a party led by such a man.

Re: Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th August 2017
I hadn't mentioned Iceland much but when I noticed Daniel Hannan had talked it up recklessly, I thought he (as an influential politician) ought to be held to account when it collapsed. Do I not like Hannan at all? I don't but that isn't the point. I see no difference with Corbyn and Venezuela really, except that I prefer him to Hannan.
Corbyn did "all sides" too much but there was strong and specific criticism of Maduro. Trump was far far worse, not least because his influence is much more direct.
